Ransom Deadline For Nancy Guthrie Has Passed – Here’s What Happens Next
The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has now entered day nine, and with the ransom deadline up, many people are wondering what will happen next in the chilling abduction.
It’s been one week since President Trump ordered top federal officers from the FBI to work with the Guthrie family in search of their elderly mother, who they claim has been taken against her will.
Nancy was last seen on January 31 by her daughter Annie, who had taken her out to dinner.
Concern grew when the 84-year-old failed to show up to church the following morning, and that’s when police made the terrifying revelation.
Nancy’s daughter, Savannah, is the US co-host of NBC’s Today show, and reportedly earns upwards of $8 million per year.
During the investigation into their mother’s abduction, police and local media received a ransom note demanding millions in bitcoin for her return.
The family has since issued numerous statements speaking directly to the potential perpetrator, stating that they are ‘willing to talk.’

The ransom note
An alleged ransom note demanding $6 million in bitcoin surfaced early in the investigation, sent to both TMZ and local television stations.
The note contained two deadlines for payment, one having been last Thursday, and the second set for Monday, 5 p.m. Arizona time.
The ransom note completely shifted the investigations focus, and the FBI worked quickly to verify it.
The note specified a publicly viewable Bitcoin account where the payment was to be deposited.
But in a shocking update just yesterday (February 9), the FBI reported that there is now another note circulating around local media.

According to local outlet News 13, the note contains information the senders ‘seem to think’ will prove to investigators they are the same people who sent the first note.
Details of the alleged second note are yet to be released due to the ongoing investigation, and out of respect for the Guthrie family.
‘We will pay’
The family has issued numerous statements since the disappearance of their elderly mother, but in a heartbreaking plea early this week, Savannah addressed her suspected abductor directly.
“We received your message and we understand,” she said joined alongside her siblings, Cameron and Annie.
“We beg you now to return our mother to us, so that we can celebrate with her.”
Guthrie added: “This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

The deadline
Just three hours before the deadline, Nancy’s TV star daughter issued a desperate new plea for help.
“We are at an hour of desperation,” she said on Instagram.
The deadline passed with no proof of their mother still being kept alive – evidence the family demanded in order for them to deposit the money.
The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department are still yet to verify the note as a legitimate threat or the work of scammers, but given that it’s the only evidence they are working with, it’s being taken seriously.
Guthrie added: “She was taken and we don’t know where.”
She pleaded with viewers to report anything suspicious to law enforcement, as they work ‘around the clock’ to bring her home.
Following the deadline’s passing, new images and a video have been released by the FBI, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.

The previously ‘inaccessible’ footage shows a masked individual wearing gloves and a backpack while stood before Nancy’s front door in the early hours of the day she vanished.
The individual has not been publicly identified, nor has it been confirmed whether this person is directly responsible for Nancy’s disappearance; however, it’s the most substantive public lead in the case at present.
As of yesterday, the FBI had not identified any suspects or persons of interest.
What happens now?
As federal law enforcement continue to work to find Nancy, it seems there is still yet to be communication between the family and the alleged kidnappers.
In the meantime, officials are pleading with the public to come forward with any information they believe may be of significance.
In a statement, they wrote: “We are currently operating a 24-hour command post that includes crisis management experts, analytic support, and investigative teams.
“But we still need the public’s help.
“Someone has that one piece of information that can help us bring Nancy home.”
It’s been reported that the FBI is now offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the safe return of Nancy.
