FBI Issues Major Update On Charlie Kirk Murder Suspect Tyler Robinson
The FBI has issued a major update on murder suspect Tyler Robinson, who allegedly shot and killed Charlie Kirk on Wednesday evening (September 10).
The FBI is currently holding a news conference and has given a major update on the murder suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who allegedly killed right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.
The 31-year-old, a close ally to President Trump, was fatally shot in the neck while hosting an event on a university campus in Utah.
The suspect is a Utah resident.
It’s been reported that Robinson reached out to a family friend, who then contacted a sheriff with information that he had confessed or implied he had committed the crime.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox opened the conference by saying: “We got him.”
He added that a member of the suspect’s family told investigators that the 22-year-old had become ‘more political’ in recent years.
The family member recalled a recent incident in which Robinson came to dinner, and mentioned that Kirk was coming to Utah.
During the interaction, he talked about why he ‘didn’t like him and the viewpoints he had.’
Robinson had told a family member on that evening that ‘Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate.’
The Utah governor thanked the family members of the suspect, who ‘did the right thing’ in bringing him to law enforcement.
Upon investigation, officials found messages on the bullet casings.
Cox said some of the inscriptions included: “Hey fascist! Catch!” “o bella ciao, bella ciao,” and “if you read this you are gay lmao.”
They also found a bolt-action rifle wrapped in a dark towel, and noted that the gun had a scope mount on top of it.
FBI Director Kash Patel said he is proud to bring Kirk’s family justice.
Patel said: “I just want to express my gratitude for giving us the resources we need to operate in this space to bring this sort of justice at this sort of speed.
“In 33 hours, we have made historic progress for Charlie.”
The Utah governor said the suspect was not a student at Utah Valley University, where the shooting occurred.
