A study has revealed which US State has the most ‘Karens,’ and people are not happy with the results.

The name Karen was once the third most popular in the US, and now it has been pretty much eradicated.

Bionic, who conducted the study, said a ‘Karen’ can be described as someone who is obnoxious and entitled, who may use their privilege to get their own way.

It gained traction in 2019, when the term ‘being a Karen’ originated from a meme.

Now, a study has finally revealed which state has the most ‘Karens’- and it may surprise you.

Where do the biggest complainers live in the world?

It seems there is a dominant place in the world where most ‘Karens’ live – and the results may shock you.

That being said, it seems that ‘Karens’ aren’t just concentrated in one country, but are rather a global phenomenon.

And, some places seem to be filled with more ‘Karens’ than others.

The study found that these countries had the most ‘Karens,’ and we’re surprised it’s so many

The United States had the most Karens with 1,584,764. Next, is England with 282,743 Karens. Taking third place is Canada, then the Philippines, and Mexico in fifth place.

Is Karen always to blame?

However, it turns out people may be acting as ‘Karens’ under different names, as ‘Karen’ itself doesn’t even make the top five complainers.

Surprisingly, other names appear far more often.

Louise, Ann, Jane, Marie, and Anne top the list of so-called ‘covert Karens,’ while Karen only ranks eighth overall.

Who is going under the radar?

It turns out some names have quietly flown under the radar, including the male counterpart to ‘Karens.’

In fact, the numbers are even higher among men, with the top name accounting for 6% of all complaints.

The five most common male names linked to complaining like a ‘Karen’ are John, David, James, Paul, and Michael.

Which industries are the top targets for ‘Karens’?

There are many industries which endure the wrath of an angry ‘Karen’, but it might not be the one you would think of first.

Based on Trustpilot reviews, these are the industries which fall victim the hardest to ‘Karen’s’ secret weapon: the one-star review.

As well as a one-star review, you can probably expect a strongly worded email sent to the manager.

The most complained-about industries include online shopping, finance, gambling, travel companies and mobile phones and broadband.

Young people have renamed Karen

However, Gen Z have come up with a replacement name for Karen.

They’re essentially the younger version of ‘Karens’ – but instead of asking to see the manager, they head straight to social media to vent when something doesn’t go their way.

It’s a digital-age twist on the stereotype: outspoken, easily frustrated, and convinced they’re in the right.

The nickname is catching on for a couple of reasons – not just because it seems to fit the behavior, but also because of how common the name is.

Much like ‘Karen’ was widely used for girls born in the 1960s, this newer name became hugely popular for babies in the ’80s and ’90s.

During that time, it frequently ranked as the number one choice for girls in the US.

How did they rename Karen?

In one TikTok that went viral by @erindieheart, she said: “Millennials, they are out here trying to decide what our generations name equivalent for a Karen.

“We will pick our own Karen.

“We know exactly who are the a**holes of our generation.”

The names included were: Ashley, Brittany, Heather, Amber, Tiffany, Jessica, Nicole, Becky or Kelsey.

One name was chosen the most in the comments.

But what is the name in question? Jessica.

And people have a lot to say about this.

“I’ve never met a pleasant Jessica,” said one TikTok user.

Another social media user said: “Karen is Jessica’s mom.”

What are the new ‘Karen’s’ opinion of this?

It seems the new ‘Karens’ are not happy about their name being chosen.

“As a Jessica (I’m devastated),” said one TikTok user.

Another said: “Leave Jessica’s alone wtf.”

And, other people don’t think Jessica has the same ring to it as Karen.

One person said: “Yeah, no.

“It’s still Karen.”

Another added: “Doesn’t have the same ring to it.

“Sticking with Karen.”

The U.S. state with the most ‘Karens’

It seems that this state is in disagreement about if it is home to a lot of ‘Karens’.

On social media, one person said “if you go to any TJ’s during the week, you’ll encounter one in the parking lot most likely.”

Another said: “It’s the valley of Karens.”

However, others are quick to defend the state and the lack of Karens.

One person replied: “No. Middle-aged women here have better things to do.”

Another said: “People here might think a certain way, but are too polite to cause an entitled scene.”

The argument really is split.

Which State contains the most ‘Karens’?

Bionic looked at the U.S. states with the most Karens, and you may be surprised at what came out on top.

In this study, California came out at number one.

Forbes found that California has the largest population out of any state, and the people who live there are known to be fairly affluent.

They found that Karens are often associated with, and depicted as people, who are middle-class and privileged.

The other states with the most Karens in the U.S. are Texas, New York, Florida and Pennsylvania.

It seems like we all know a Karen, and we all know a different version depending on where we live.

One person said: “Minnesota Karen is kinda nice, but she might judge my after soccer snacks.”

Another said: “Texas Karen is the scariest Karen.”

We’ll take your word for it.
