A woman was arrested immediately by airport security after they saw the results of her X-ray.

A 30-year-old woman from Namibia was detained at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport after authorities saw her X-ray scan.

Authorities reportedly received a tip about the woman, who was arriving via a flight from São Paulo, Brazil.

Upon her arrival, officers stopped and questioned her, subsequently uncovering evidence that led to her arrest.

Following her detainment, the woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where an X-ray revealed foreign objects within her stomach.

Under medical supervision and police observation, she eventually expelled 68 pellets, which police suspect contained c*****e.

These pellets collectively weighed around 850 grams, according to the South African police per Sky News.

Images released by authorities showed the pellets recovered from her body, providing a visual representation of the narcotics that had allegedly been ingested for smuggling purposes.

Police reported that this is the tenth incident of its kind at OR Tambo International Airport in just two months, suggesting an ongoing trend in drug smuggling activities targeting the area.

Authorities noted that a Nigerian national was similarly apprehended on drug trafficking charges just a week earlier.

South African law enforcement officials continue to increase vigilance and interception efforts at major entry points like OR Tambo to curtail these illegal activities.

The national commissioner of the South African Police Service, General Fannie Masemola, emphasized the agency’s commitment to preventing crime and cracking down on international crime networks.

“Our men and women in blue are hard at work intercepting hardened criminals. South Africa is not a playground for criminals and transnational organized crime. We are squeezing the space for criminals and leaving nothing to chance,” Masemola stated, underscoring the message that South Africa intends to address crime with increasing intensity.

This arrest comes amid heightened law enforcement efforts to secure the country’s borders and reduce drug-related activities.

South African police continue to respond promptly to intelligence reports regarding suspected drug trafficking, particularly involving routes known for illegal drug imports.

The arrested woman was scheduled to appear in court on September 25, where she faced charges of drug possession and dealing, although there have been no further updates to the public.

This recent series of arrests reflects a broader commitment by South African law enforcement to counter organized crime, particularly at busy transit points like OR Tambo International Airport, which is a key hub in the region.

This case is one of several recent high-profile incidents involving drug trafficking in South Africa, drawing significant attention to the country’s challenges with transnational crime.
