Woman Claiming To Be Madeleine McCann Shares DNA Test Update After Contacting Family
A woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann has shared a new update on her identity after reportedly contacting Kate and Gerry McCann for a DNA test.
Julia Wandelt, also known by Julia Faustyna and Julia Wendell, made headlines last year when she claimed she may be Madeleine, one of the most high-profile missing people worldwide.
The three-year-old child mysteriously disappeared from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007.
She was last seen sleeping alongside her twin siblings, Sean and Amelie, as their parents dined at a nearby restaurant.
Madeleine’s sudden disappearance has led to a years-long investigation, with millions being funded into the case.
Despite ongoing efforts and occasional developments, the girl’s whereabouts remains unknown.
As Madeleine’s case enters its 18th year, the investigation persists.
The U.K. Home Office recently allocated an additional $248,000 to assist with the search.
Meanwhile, German prosecutors continue investigating Christian B, the primary suspect in her disappearance.
Christian B, who is currently serving time for an unrelated r*** conviction, remains a person of interest in the case despite being acquitted of other charges earlier this year.
Wandelt, now 22 years old, gained international attention when she claimed she may be Madeleine.
The Polish woman cited a rare eye condition called coloboma, which she shares with the missing girl, pointed out other physical similarities, and alleged memories of being taken and abused as a child.
Earlier this year, Wandelt attended a prayer vigil for Madeleine, reportedly intending to speak to the girl’s parents.
She is said to have carried a letter asking for their cooperation in DNA testing, expressing her frustration at not being acknowledged.
Later, she reportedly commented: “I have never stopped believing I am Madeleine McCann… No, I am not crazy. I am not a liar.”
Wandelt described her alleged experience of being abducted on the Break The Ice Podcast, saying: “I remember being taken… I remember that I was put into the car. I remember that someone used something like a syringe to put something [in] my body.”
She also mentioned being handed over to a man with dark hair and tanned skin, though she couldn’t recall his face.
Wandelt attempted to verify her claims by undergoing DNA testing last year during an appearance on Dr. Phil.
Dr. Fia Johansson, her representative and a self-proclaimed psychic medium, revealed the results: “She is absolutely 100 percent from Poland. She is a small percentage of Lithuanian and Russian, but the test results show she is Polish.”
Although this contradicts Wandelt’s assertions she could be Madeleine, she remains adamant in her belief.
The 22-year-old has reportedly attempted to contact Kate and Gerry McCann for a DNA test but claims they have not responded.
On Instagram, she also claims her biological parents, who raised her in Poland, have refused to undergo DNA testing.
Dr. Johansson maintains that Wandelt’s mother is most likely her biological mother, though questions remain about her father’s identity.
According to Johansson, Wandelt’s medical records reveal she suffered a skull fracture at the age of eight, leaving her unable to walk or speak for over a year.
Wandelt’s claims, though widely dismissed, have reignited public attention on Madeleine’s case.
