Dani Li, the Brazilian pop star best known for her hit song ‘Eu sou da Amazônia’, which translates as ‘I’m from the Amazon’, has died aged 42.
Li, full name Danielle Fonseca Machado, rose to fame after performing in talent shows in her hometown of Afuá in the Amazon jungle from the age of just five.
She then moved the Macapá when she was 17 and became a part of the Brazilian pop group Banda Sensação.
In 2008, Li met the poet Osmar Júnior, who became her producer and helped her become a household name.
Sadly, it’s now been confirmed that Li has tragically passed away aged just 42.

Dani’s husband, Marcelo Mira, paid tribute to her as he announced the tragic news of her death.
“Her body arrives tomorrow in Macapá,” he told local media, as per the Mirror. “We are very shaken by all this. The burial will be on Saturday.”
Tributes to the star have begun rolling in from her fans and colleagues alike.
One writes on Instagram: “My condolences to all family and friends a great loss in music.”
Another adds: “My sincere condolences to all the family friends and fans. God comfort your hearts.”
“Very hard to believe she is gone, so beautiful, a life ahead, rest in peace Dani,” a third agrees.
Another adds: “Unbelievable. Rest in peace muse of Amazonia. My condolences to the family and friends.”
“It’s hard to believe she is gone. So beautiful with life ahead of her. Rest in peace Dani,” someone else writes.
A final post reads: “My sincere condolences to all the family friends and fans. God comfort your hearts.”
Alongside ‘Eu sou da Amazônia’, Li had many other popular songs, including ‘Vem Me Dizer’, ‘Pra Voce Ficar Comigo’ and ‘Caique’.
Her most recent song, ‘Guerra de Amor’ was released on January 14.

Li’s cause of death was due to medical complications during an operation.
She reportedly went under the knife for a liposuction procedure on Friday, January 19.
Li was having fat removed from her belly and back, alongside a breast reduction, according to reports.
The procedure was set to take place in Pinhais, Brazil, and is reported to have cost 25,000 BRL (£4,000).
However, Dani had to be rushed to a hospital in nearby Curitiba following the complications.
She passed away on Wednesday, January 24.
A police investigation is believed to be underway to find out what exactly went wrong during the procedure.
At this stage, it’s unclear how this elective operation went so badly wrong, leaving the exact cause of the complication unknown.
Li is survived by her husband, Marcelo Mira, and the couple’s seven-year-old daughter.
