Selena Gomez Makes Heartbreaking Baby Announcement
Selena Gomez has made a devastating baby announcement, leaving fans heartbroken.
The Only Murders in the Building star has opened up about a challenge she faces in becoming a mother in a heartfelt interview.
After hearing the news, fans took to social media and shared their support for the singer and actress.
One follower wrote: “Selena, your strength is inspiring.”
Another added: “I wish her happiness and blessings in life, she is just a brave girl.”
“Love you Selena, stay strong,” commented a third fan.
The ‘Calm Down’ singer has previously opened up about her health struggles, revealing she has a disorder called SIBO (also known as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) and lupus.
“SIBO is a serious condition affecting the small intestine,” says Healthline. “It occurs when there is an increase in the bacterial population in the small intestine.”
Gomez revealed her diagnosis in a viral TikTok video after being body-shamed by commentators.
“This makes me sick,” she wrote in a now-deleted post: “I have [SIBO] in my small intestine. It flares up. I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story. No, I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.”
Gomez was reportedly diagnosed with lupus in 2013, as revealed in an interview two years later with Billboard.
Healthline describes Lupus as a chronic autoimmune disease that ‘can cause many different symptoms, including fever, fatigue, rashes, body aches, and confusion.’
Lupus currently has no cure, however, it can be managed with medication and lifestyle changes.
The condition ultimately led the star to receive a kidney transplant.
These ongoing health conditions mean that it is dangerous for Gomez to carry her own children.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, she said: “I haven’t ever said this but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children.
“I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”
The ‘Wolves’ singer shared that it was hard news to accept initially, given that she had ‘envisioned’ life differently.
The star added she’s ‘thankful’ for the parenthood options available and is ‘excited’ for her journey. Gomez’s mom, Mandy Teefey, is adopted.
For Gomez, the outcome remains the same: “At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
