Shaquil Barrett’s two-year-old daughter has tragically died.

Barrett, 30, is an American football player who plays as an outside linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL.

He has won two Super Bowl championships and has been named to the Pro Bowl on two occasions.

He and his wife, Jordanna, have four young children – sons Shaquil Jr and Braylon and daughters Aaliyah and Arrayah.

Tragically, the family confirmed that their two-year-old daughter, Arrayah, sadly died on April 30.

The cause of death is believed to be drowning, which occurred after she fell into a swimming pool.

Barrett’s NFL team released a touching statement following his family’s terrible loss.

It reads: “Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time.

“While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah.”

Jordanna has broken her silence after her daughter’s passing.

She shared a photo of Arrayah on her Instagram account and thanked everyone for their thoughts, messages and prayers.

Jordanna writes: “Arrayah was the apple of my eye, and my heart will forever be with hers. I love you so much, my baby. I am so so sorry.

“Until we see each other again, please watch over your siblings and momma and dada.

“We love you forever and ever and always. I can’t wait to see that precious smile again and just hug you so close.

“I would do absolutely anything. There is no Barrett 6 without you, and we will forever hold your place down here until we all meet again in heaven.

“I love you forever and always.”

According to numerous outlets, police were called to a report that a child had fallen into a pool in the Beach Park area of south Tampa, Florida, on April 30.

Arrayah was taken to hospital but sadly lost her life a short time later.

Police have said they do not believe the child’s death is suspicious ‘but a purely accidental and tragic incident’, as per the Tampa Bay Times.

Arrayah celebrated her second birthday only two weeks ago when she had a ‘Baby Shark’ themed party, which was attended by family and friends.

Barrett’s last Instagram post was photos from the party, alongside the caption: “Happy second birthday to my cutie girl. So sweet and cute. You made our family complete. I love you baby girl.”

Tributes have been pouring in following the news, with Barrett’s former teammate and NFL legend Tom Brady commenting: “The Brady’s love you.”

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson says: “Heartbreaking. Praying for you and your family Shaq.”

Meanwhile, sportswriter Field Yates adds: “Thinking of the Barrett family during this heartbreaking time.”
