The frontman of Smash Mouth has reportedly entered hospice care and has only days left to live.
Steve Harwell, 56, is an American rock star who played a pivotal role as a founding member of Smash Mouth when the band initially formed in 1994.
Their rise to stardom was swift, propelled by memorable singles such as ‘Walkin’ On The Sun’, ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends’, and the iconic ‘All Star’.
Harwell and fellow members of Smash Mouth achieved worldwide recognition when their music was prominently featured in the 2001 computer-animated film Shrek.
Sadly, it has been revealed that Harwell is under hospice care, with his family and close friends having been by his side for the past three days.
According to Harwell’s manager, it’s expected that he may have just a week left to live.

This devastating development follows an event from nearly two years ago when Harwell was involved in a concerning incident.
During a live performance, he allegedly exhibited severe disorientation, slurred speech, and yelled at the audience.
This incident raised significant concerns, and shortly afterwards, he announced his retirement from the music industry.
These issues were reportedly linked to various diagnoses he had received over the years, such as cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and Wernicke’s encephalopathy.
According to a report made by TMZ, Harwell has battled alcohol abuse for most of his life and is currently in the final stage of liver failure.
He had been undergoing treatment at a hospital until recently.
A representative for Smash Mouth has spoken out, telling Daily Mail: “Steve is resting at home and being cared for by his fiancée and hospice care.”
They went on to add that the 56-year-old musician is ‘surrounded by family and friends’.
Emphasising the rocker’s need for privacy, they concluded: “My only additional comment is that we would hope that people would respect Steve and his family’s privacy during this difficult time.”

Many of Harwell’s fans have taken to social media and reacted to the saddening news.
One person pens: “He’ll live on forever being the soundtrack of so many movies.”
Another adds: “This is so sad… please God bless and save him.”
While somebody else writes: “So young. So tragic.”
“Wow, that’s horrible! May his final days be in peace,” comments a fourth fan.
