Stephen King has recommended a brand-new horror series and some fans love it so much they’re bingeing it in one night.
After the ‘King of Horror’ took to social media and praised the ‘creepy’ TV series it gained a whole new fandom.
In agreement with the best-selling author, one viewer wrote: “One of the best new shows to hit the streams.”
Another added: “I’m on the edge of my seat. This is a really enjoyable watch.”
“Suspense delivered in a fast-paced package,” commented a third. “The bow on top is the top-notch acting from the cast.”
Somebody else shares: “I binged this show.”
Critics agree, with Nerdspin‘s Zofia Wijaszka penning: “It feels swift, engaging, and rarely tiresome, with some brutal scenes that will leave you speechless.”
For The Australian, Graeme Blundell said: “Despite my long-held misgivings about the horror genre, I was sucked into this series across the first two episodes.”
“An intense horror experience in compact half-hour episodes, skillfully building suspense and maintaining mystery,” Marco Vito Oddo wrote in We Got This Covered.
The horror series also has a promising score of 77% on Rotten Tomatoes and 6.4/10 on IMDb.
Ian McCulloch, best known as a producer on the Yellowstone series, created the Peacock show, which stars Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Emilie Bierre, Luciano Leroux, Boris McGiver, and Kathy Baker, among others.
Its synopsis reads: “Trapped on a farm in rural Georgia, a group of neighbors must put aside their differences and unite in the face of a mysterious and deadly threat.”
Although described as horror, the show is far from a slasher. Instead, it plunges into the mystery and sci-fi genre, drawing comparisons to the popular series From.
Although the series is said to be inspired by the novel ‘Stinger’ by Robert R. McCammon, McCulloch told Bl**dy Disgusting it’s ‘99.8% different from the book.’
He told the outlet: “I didn’t want to do a direct adaptation word for word, it’s not interesting to me. The book exists; it’s there.”
Before the first two episodes aired, King took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared his thoughts on Teacup.
He wrote: “If you like Lost or From, I think you’ll enjoy this. It’s strange, creepy, claustrophobic, and scary. Beware the Gas Mask Man.”
As of right now, a second season hasn’t been confirmed, however, many fans hope they’ll get one.
Summarizing the thoughts of many, one said: “Can’t wait for the second season!”
