A Twitch streamer is under fire for saying obese people should be ‘shamed’.

The woman, who goes by the name FanFan, made the comment when streaming in the Just Chatting section earlier this month.

During the discussion, the 21-year-old said she doesn’t understand why obese people don’t have their own ‘roped-off area’ in hotels.

She said: “When you go to a hotel, and they have a little roped-off area, for a smoking area, like the dedicated smoking area in airports, right?

“Why don’t they f***ing have that for obese people? I know they don’t have that for heroin users, but why do we not shame people who are morbidly obese?

“It’s bad for them!”

After watching the stream, Twitch users took to Twitter and shared their thoughts on her controversial statement.

One person argued: “It’s interesting, @issfanfan. You want to take obese people and segregate them from everyone else so they feel ashamed of themselves.

“I want to take arrogant, judgmental jerks like you and segregate you, so you can feel what you want others to feel.”

Another added: “I understand that obesity is unhealthy but damn girl. You have NO clue why people are obese. Why do you feel the need to segregate obese people when they’re not bothering you?”

“Because there is no such thing as secondhand fat and if there were it wouldn’t affect another person’s health like secondhand smoke,” a third pointed out.

Following the backlash, FanFan has taken to social media and attempted to clarify her comment.

She stated: “The whole thing that I was saying was that we should not be glorifying people who are morbidly obese, which makes sense, doesn’t it?

“We should not be seeing someone who has health problems because they ate themselves until obesity and call them brave […] I stand by it.”
