However, the trailer has left fans baffled due to the fact that Mario sounds more like Pratt than the Italian plumber.

Despite the confusion, many were left impressed by the trailer, especially its visuals and Jack Black’s take on Bowser.

YouTuber CircleToonsHD tweeted: “You can tell Jack Black put a ton of love and heart into his Bowser voice, while Chris Pratt just uh… spoke?

“Kinda weird but the visuals are absolutely f***ing stellar, and I love the general vibe of the whole thing. I’m excited for this dang Mario movie.”

Another online personality Saberspark shared: “Chris Pratt’s voice is still jarring to hear coming out of Mario but everything else in the Mario trailer looked amazing. I’m genuinely excited to see this thing.”

A third person said: “I mean I think it LOOKS really good, and even the rest of the actors seem to be really killing it. I think it’s not that big a deal, the voice, it’s just a little disappointing I guess?”

Some people supported his voice, adding that he sounds like other versions of the character, which has been reimagined a few times over its rich 41-year history.

Charles Martinet, who plays the character in the video games, was initially told in his audition to speak like ‘an Italian plumber from Brooklyn’.

The voice actor portrayed both Mario and Luigi in the Super Mario video game series since 1992.

Many fans are comparing Pratt’s voice to Italian-American actor Lou Albano, who played the character with a New York accent.

One user shared: “Everyone, please stop hating Chris Patt’s voice.

“Pratt’s Mario actually works in a way and it sounds more like Lou Albano’s Super Mario Brothers Super Show.

“I actually think that’s the right choice for him, I didn’t really wanna hear him try and imitate Charles [Martinet].”

Someone else added: “I honestly think that’s a much better Mario voice than Martinet’s, and more reminiscent of the classic Lou Albano Mario.

“It’s a little less silly, sounds a bit more like an actual accent (Italian-American), and gives Mario’s voice a likeable strength while still staying playful.”
