SZA has alleged that she cancelled a magazine shoot after her request for a black photographer was denied.
The singer, who hasn’t specified which publication it was, argued there’s ‘TOO many elite black creatives’ for it to have been an issue.
Taking to Twitter, the 31-year-old penned: “I requested a black photographer for a cover and the mag told me no. Lol it’s 2021.. and almost Juneteenth.

“Respectfully I can’t do it.”
Later on, she added: “Das not my vibe but there’s TOO many elite black creatives right now to not allow it.”
So far, SZA’s initial post has been liked over 94,000 times and retweeted by more than 7,000 users.
Many fans have also shared their thoughts on the issue in the comments.
“You have no choice but to respect this woman. She literally stands her grounds and her beliefs. None of them are harmful and it benefits the culture, not just herself!” one fan wrote. “She sets the tone for humanity and gives me so much faith that there’s still genuine people here.”
Another person responded: “It’s not even hard to find a good black photographer… And they basically always do a better job with lighting than their pale counterparts. Let’s not forget how dirty they do black celebs in their edits all the time.”
Others begged her to reveal which magazine she was talking about.
One person wrote: “That’s awful and so ridiculous. l get why you wouldn’t want to but you should name the magazine so this possibly won’t happen again, and/or may happen less.”
A third wrote: “Oh no ma’am, tell us who it was, we’ll deal with them.”
