A chilling fan theory about The Holiday will change the way you see the film.

It’s that time of year when you’re sitting in front of the TV and wanting to watch some Christmas movies.

While there’s Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street, there are also some modern classics, including 2006’s The Holiday.

The film follows two women (Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet) from different countries who swap homes for the festive season.

While on their trips, they meet and fall in love with two local guys (Jude Law and Jack Black).

Despite years having passed since the movie came out, some fans have concocted a chilling theory about its plot, and it changes everything.

A person recently took to Reddit and said they believe Graham (Law) and Iris (Winslet) are plotting to kill Amanda (Diaz) and steal her wealth.

Before explaining why they believe this, they clarified that they came up with the theory after reading an article by Sarah Rees Brennan.

The Reddit user penned: “Kate Winslet and Jude Law are laying a trap where he will seduce Cameron Diaz, marry her, kill her, and inherit her fortune.

“Jude Law already murdered his first wife so he could inherit her house.

“Now he and his sister have used the house swap scheme to get Cameron Diaz into their town while Kate Winslet can investigate and make sure Cameron has enough money and property (and no family/entanglements) to be worth the effort of seducing her and then disposing of her.

“Kate is so overjoyed to see how grand and luxurious Cameron’s house is because she knows she and Jude have hit the jackpot.

“Meanwhile, Jude carefully sets up an ‘accidental’ meeting and manipulates Cameron to develop a relationship and get his claws into her. Everything that follows is orchestrated to carry out their plot.

“Kate Winslet was maybe also planning to seduce and marry the old screenwriter and wait for him to die and leave her his house/fortune until Jack Black interfered.”

The Reddit user went on to add that it makes the ‘mediocre Christmas movie’ much more entertaining.

The Holiday grossed a whopping $205 million on a budget of $85 million. At the time, it was met with mixed to positive reviews.

Stephen Saito of Premiere Magazine wrote in his initial review of The Holiday: “The Holiday wears its Tinseltown credentials on its sleeve and provides the kind of escapist entertainment that’s been so lacking thus far into the winter season.”

Meanwhile, Caroline Bologna called it a ‘modern holiday classic’ in her article for the Huffington Post.
