Netflix viewers are raving about a ‘great’ series that went under the radar when it was initially released.
Due to the sheer amount of content that is released on the streaming service, it is very easy to miss out on some quality films and TV shows.
For example, Bodies dropped on the platform without much fanfare – now viewers are saying it’s one of the best shows of the year.
And The Little Things was poorly received when it initially came out in cinemas but it’s now found success since being available on Netflix.
Now another series that initially went under the radar is trending and apparently, it’s a must-watch.
The Rain is a thriller series in which the world we are familiar with has come to an end due to a rain-carried virus – which has wiped out nearly everybody in Scandinavia.
Six years later, two Danish siblings emerge from the safety of the bunker where they have been hiding and join up with a group of other young survivors.
Together they head out on a danger-filled quest throughout the abandoned land in search of signs of life.
The Rain ran for three seasons (2018 to 2020) and was relatively successful among critics, having scored 82% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Netflix users are only just stumbling across the programme, despite it having been on the streaming service for quite some time – and they have tons to say about it.
“I loved it… thought it was brilliant!!” pens one viewer.
Someone else adds: “This was one of the best drama series I’ve ever watched. Three seasons were a perfect length to tell a great story.”
A third writes: “Totally unique concept with mysteries and twists. Great storytelling and love the characters as they [are] placed in the series. This series gives you [similar] vibe of The Walking Dead.”
“I’ve seen this series and it’s great,” says a fourth.
A fifth comments: “Great series. I was surprised [at] how much I enjoyed this show.”
Speaking to NME back when the show dropped in 2018, co-creator Jannik Tai Mosholt shared that The Hunger Games was a huge inspiration for the series and that they looked at Jennifer Lawrence’s character Katniss Everdeen when creating the show’s lead character.
Mosholt told the outlet: “We talked about The Hunger Games a lot, The Road and Lord of the Flies too.
“We wanted to move out of our Scandinavian comfort zone which is always really grey and depressive. So we created a story where the world appears to have gone under but there’s also lots of hope because nature has taken over.”
