Flight Attendant Explains Why You Should Always Leave A Shoe In Hotel Safe
A flight attendant has shared why you should always leave a shoe in your hotel safe.
Esther Sturrus, who goes by the username @esthersturrus on TikTok, regularly posts tips and advice for people heading off on their travels.
Recently, she addressed a common fear people have when staying at hotels, leaving valuables behind.
In the TikTok post, which has accumulated over a million views, Sturrus shares six hacks people can use abroad.
The flight attendant’s genius advice will ensure you never end up in this situation.
Hundreds are now taking to the comments and praising the flight attendant for her clever tips and tricks.
One TikToker writes: “The shoe reminder is perfect.”
“Wow… these are really cool ideas. Thanks for sharing!” says a second.
A third user comments: “One of the most useful videos on here.”
“Clever and useful,” somebody else agrees.
But before we explore why it’s wise to put a shoe in your hotel safe, let’s check out Sturrus’ other tips and tricks when it comes to traveling:
1. Card trick
The flight attendant says any card can power the electricity in your hotel room.
Some people are taking to the comments and disputing this particular tip.
“Sorry… the card thing does not work on most places now. The easy way is to get a second card when you check in,” one viewer insists.
Another adds: “The key card thing is only for old European hotels. I think the world has moved on with chip cards.”
However, Metro reports that this hack works in most hotel rooms because a key card simply holds down a switch at the bottom of the card slot.
2. Hangers for curtains
Sturrus explains that if a pesky gap in your curtains lets the light in and keeps you awake, you can use a clothes hanger to peg the fabric together. This will help keep your room dark and ensure you get a good night’s sleep.
“The curtain one I will certainly use!” one commenter writes.
Another agrees: “The hanger for the drapes is GENIUS!”
3. International charger
Sturrus says there’s no need to despair if you don’t have an international charger, you can simply use the USB section of your charger and charge your device from the hotel television!
4. Shower cap shoe cover
Sturrus also draws attention to some unique uses for her shower cap. You can use it as a shoe cover to protect your other items.
“I never thought about that. Thanks, good tip,” writes a grateful follower.
5. Shower cap barrier
Sturrus also uses her shower cap for a hygienic hack.
She covers her hotel remote with her hair protector, meaning she doesn’t have to touch the same thing thousands of guests before her have dirtied up.
One relieved viewer confirms: “Omg yes the TV remote, I hate touching those things.”
6. Shoe in a safe
And as for why you should always put a shoe into your hotel safe?
Strurrus explains that by doing this you will never forget to check your safe – unless you want to walk around with one shoe on.
