Adult star Kagney Linn Karter has died aged just 36.

Karter was hugely successful in the adult film business and over her prolific career – that started in the mid-2000s – she had several nominations for AVN awards.

In recent years, she had left Los Angeles behind and moved to Ohio.

Born in Houston, Texas, Karter began her career in the industry in the early 2000s and starred in films such as The Official Silence of the Lambs Parody and Not Married with Children XXX.

She was widely praised by the AVN awards, with a nomination in 2011 for top female performer of the year.

In 2010, she was also nominated as best new starlet.

After distancing herself from the adult film industry, Karter began a career as a pole dancer in Ohio and eventually, she went on to open a pole dancing studio of her own in Akron called Alchemy Pole Fitness.

Kagney’s friends write on her GoFundMe page: “She immediately warmed to the studio and all the students with an effortless grace, and it soon felt as if she had always been a part of the studio, from the very beginning.”

In her final Instagram post, which Karter uploaded on February 10, the caption read: “Hi from Florida.”

The haunting snap shows Karter in a baby pink bikini, standing on a beach with the water around her feet.

TMZ reports that online records confirm Karter passed away last week in Cuyahoga County.

A Parma Police Department representative has reportedly told the news outlet that Karter died by suicide, which is also claimed on the star’s GoFundMe page.

It continues: “Despite all of her many impressive accomplishments and talents, Kagney struggled with mental health issues as the years passed by.

“Even in her darkest days, however, she still showed up to the studio, always ready to learn, contribute, better herself in whatever small way she could manage.

“As alone as she undoubtedly felt within the confines of her own head, she continued to make an effort to show up for her friends and the community who cared about her.

“She fought her own battles with the same tenacity and drive she showed in every other area of her life, with as much strength as she could.

“Her final class with us was February 7th, less than two weeks before Kagney tragically took her own life in her home.”

The page concludes: “We humbly ask that you assist us raise funds for her mother, Tina, to lay Kagney to rest. 100% of these funds will be going to preparations for her memorial services.

“Any leftover funds will be given to a local animal rescue charity, as Kagney had a pure adoration for all of God’s creatures.”

At the time of writing, Karter’s fundraiser has exceeded its $8,000 target, with over $15,000 in donations.
