Alec Baldwin has claimed he ‘didn’t pull the trigger’ of the gun that resulted in Halyna Hutchins’ death on set of the film Rust

The actor, who has kept a low profile since the tragedy in October, made the comments during a sit-down interview with ABC New’s George Stephanopolous.

He said: “I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them. Never.

“Someone put a live bullet in a gun, a bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property.”

The interview, which is set to air in the US on December 2, was described by Stephanopoulos as ‘raw’ and ‘intense’. 

He said the 63-year-old was ‘devastated,’ yet ‘very forthcoming’. 

Previewing the chat on Good Morning America, he added: “I’ve done thousands of interviews in the last 20 years at ABC.

“This was the most intense I’ve ever experienced.”

Baldwin spoke briefly to TMZ in October to ask the paparazzi to stop following his family. 

It was originally reported that the Hollywood star ‘discharged a prop gun on set’ which hit the 42-year-old. She tragically died after being flown to hospital.

At the time, he posted a statement on Twitter saying there were ‘no words’ to express his shock and sadness.

He penned: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and deeply admired colleague of ours.

“I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.

“My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”
