Billy Ray Cyrus is divorcing his much younger wife after just seven months of marriage.
Miley Cyrus’ parents Billy Ray and Tish have moved onto controversial relationships following the end of their marriage.
Both new couplings have made the headlines for varying reasons.
Tish, 56, tied the knot to Prison Break star Dominic Purcell in 2023 but on their special day, one important person wasn’t there… Tish’s daughter Noah Cyrus.
A source claimed to Us Weekly there was a scandalous reason why Noah missed her mom’s wedding.
It’s been alleged Tish ‘stole’ Purcell from her 24-year-old daughter, with it being claimed the mom began ‘pursuing him.’
“Noah is very distraught over Tish stealing Dominic from her,” the source alleges.
But now, it’s Miley’s other parent whose controversial relationship is in the headlines.
Billy Ray made headlines after becoming engaged to a much younger woman named Firerose, who he met on the set of Hannah Montana.
The ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ hitmaker starred in the Disney Channel sitcom alongside his daughter Miley between 2006 and 2011.
He reportedly kept in touch with Firerose and described them as having a ‘solid’ friendship.
Billy Ray confirmed his engagement to the 34-year-old Australian singer-songwriter in December 2022.
After finalizing his divorce from Tish, Cyrus revealed ‘it took a lot of prayers’ before asking Firerose to be ‘more than friends.’
“There was sickness and death, and hard times [during Covid]. All of a sudden, the life that I’ve always known as a touring artist didn’t exist anymore… Firerose, who had been such a light of positivity, such a best friend,” he told People.
“And then when we began sharing the music, it just evolved more into, as musical soulmates, to soulmates, happy, pure love that to me, I didn’t know could exist.”
The country music icon married Firerose on October 10, 2023 – the joyful newlyweds announced their nuptials in a joint statement on Instagram.
“10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony,” they proclaimed.
“It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined… For both of us to hear the preacher say, ‘Billy Ray and Firerose Cyrus… I now pronounce you husband and wife’ that was the sacred moment our new forever began. Long Live Love!”
However, it now appears Billy Ray’s marriage to Firerose has abruptly ended.
Court documents obtained by TMZ state the country star has filed for divorce from the singer after less than a year of matrimony, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ and ‘inappropriate marital conduct.’
The legal filings reveal Billy Ray listed their date of separation as May 22, 2024, and he is seeking an immediate annulment, allegedly ‘claiming his marriage was obtained by fraud.’
He reportedly gave Firerose a timeline to move out, initially paying her $500 per night for 10 days of temporary housing.
Billy Ray will allegedly pay $5,000 monthly for his ex to obtain housing in Tennessee for 90 days or until the divorce is finalized, whichever comes first.
“Inappropriate marital conduct can also be referred to as cruel and inhumane treatment or conduct. If the actions of one spouse have made the marriage unsafe, the other party can file on the grounds of inappropriate marital conduct,” per lawyers Casey Simmons & Bryant.
“For example, if you suspect your spouse is cheating, you can only file for adultery if you can prove it. Filing under any fault-based grounds puts the burden of proof on you, which can be difficult.”
