People are only just realising Miley Cyrus’ real name after a clip showed how much she hated it before.

The Hannah Montana star has established herself as one of the biggest celebrities in the world.

Cyrus’ catchy hits such as ‘Flowers’, ‘Wrecking Ball’ and ‘We Can’t Stop’ have all gone on to be successful chart-topping songs.

But long before the ‘Party in the U. S. A.’ singer became the pop sensation we now know, she held a different name altogether.

A resurfaced 2008 interview clip reveals Cyrus’ candid thoughts on her birth name, showcasing her strong dislike for it and her decision to legally change it.

In the clip, taken backstage during one of her concerts, a 16-year-old Miley Cyrus shared her transformation from her birth name to her preferred moniker Miley.

She grimaced after mentioning her original name, which was Destiny Hope Cyrus, joking: “Never again, it doesn’t technically legally count!”

TikTok users stumbled upon this surprising revelation and expressed their astonishment in the comments section.

Many were taken aback, with one exclaiming: “I am 21 years old and I am finally learning that Miley Cyrus’s name isn’t Miley Cyrus.”

Another added: “I never knew this.”

A third commented: “Why am I just finding this out?”

While fourth viewer wrote: “WHAT I NEVER KNEW HER FIRST NAME IS NOT MILEY”. And a fifth simply said: “BRO WHAT.”

As Cyrus’ past garnered attention, her recent statement about her musical future also came to the forefront.

In May, the singer announced her disinclination towards embarking on large-scale tours again.

She revealed that performing for massive crowds lacks the connection and authenticity she seeks in her performances.

In an interview with British Vogue, she said: “Like singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love.

“There’s no connection. There’s no safety. It’s also not natural. It’s so isolating because if you’re in front of 100,000 people then you are alone.”

Cyrus emphasised her hesitation to tour for others’ satisfaction rather than her own fulfilment.

The artist, who last toured in 2014 for her ‘Bangerz’ tour, conveyed her desire to prioritise her happiness over-performing for a vast audience.

As she continues to release music, Miey Cyrus’s evolution from her early Disney days to her present self is evident.

Her candidness about her name change and her evolving outlook on touring shed light on the multifaceted journey of a pop icon.

While she may not grace the grand stages in the near future, her music and identity continue to resonate with fans worldwide.
