Amy Schumer has hit back at the haters after she was cruelly trolled over her ‘puffier’ face.

The Trainwreck star made appearances on both The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The View this week.

However, people barely listened to a word Schumer had to say.

Instead, all eyes were focused on the changes they noticed in the comedian’s face.

And now, Schumer has hit back at the trolls and offered an explanation for her ‘puffier’ appearance.

Schumer shot to fame after her successful Comedy Central sketch series Inside Amy Schumer – which saw her win an Emmy.

She’s since starred in popular movies like I Feel Pretty and has a host of comedy specials that have been well-received by fans and critics alike.

Schumer has been married to her husband Chris Fischer since 2018 and shortly after, the pair welcomed their baby son, Gene.

But this week, on a series of TV appearances, no one was interested in Schumer’s professional or personal life.

Instead, it was her appearance that attracted all the attention.

People have taken to social media to share their comments about Schumer’s face.

One writes on X, formerly known as Twitter: “What did Amy Schumer do to her face? One might at least give her she had a cute-ish kinda face before. She did something to her cheeks? Eyes?”

Another asks: “I’m going to need all surgeons and doctors to weigh in here. Serious question, what happened to Amy’s face? Is it normally this size?”

“Amy Schumer slowly turning into the Caterpillar from Bug’s Life,” a cruel troll jokes.

But now, Schumer has responded to the trolling – revealing the reason behind her change in appearance is far more serious than anyone realised.

Schumer says on Instagram: “Thank you so much for everyone’s input about my face.

“I’ve enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years.

“And you’re right it is puffier than normal right now.”

She continues: “I have endometriosis an autoimmune disease that every woman should read about.

“There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now but I’m OK.

“Historically women’s bodies have barely been studied medically compared to men.”

As per the NHS: “Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.”

Treatments for the condition can include steroids like prednisone, which can cause facial swelling as a side effect, as per Medical News Today.

Schumer concludes: “I also believe a woman doesn’t need any excuse for her physical appearance and owes no explanation.

“But I wanted to take the opportunity to advocate for self-love and acceptance of the skin you’re in. Like every other woman/person some days I feel confident and good as hell and others I want to put a bag over my head.

“But I feel strong and beautiful and so proud of this TV show I created. Wrote. Starred in and directed. Maybe just maybe we can focus on that for a little.

“I had backup dancers on Fallon but my face is the headline hahaha anyway I hope you enjoy Life and Beth. Love and solidarity. Amy.”
