On the red carpet, Butler chatted to People magazine, and he revealed that he ‘spent a week in bed’ before working on any other projects after Elvis.
“I didn’t get sick the entire time I filmed, but the day that I finished, I ended up in the emergency room,” he told the news outlet.
This isn’t the first time that Butler has opened up about the difficult period in his life.
Last year, the actor sat down with British GQ and spoke about this time in more detail.

Butler explained that he was ‘rushed to hospital’ as he had contracted a virus that simulated the symptoms of appendicitis.
He recalled: “My body just started shutting down the day after I finished Elvis.”
However, visiting the emergency room wasn’t the only problem Butler faced during his time filming Elvis.
When interviewed by People magazine, the Dune: Part Two star said that he lost his voice when singing Elvis’ version of ‘Never Been to Spain’.
“We did so many takes. And at a certain point, I just lost my voice,” the 31-year-old said.
“So then I went on vocal rest for a couple days, and I was able to come back.”
Butler also discussed his commitment to the role when appeared on The Graham Norton Show.
He told the host that he would film the gruelling scenes repeatedly until they were perfect.
“I am getting rid of the accent,” Butler said. “But I have probably damaged my vocal cords with all that singing.
“One song took 40 takes!”
Elsewhere in the interview, Butler discussed his Oscar nomination for the role and said the whole experience has been ‘amazing’.
“It has been a whirlwind and it’s amazing because when you are making a film you never really know how it will be received,” he said.
“With this one there were so many ways it could go wrong so to be received in the way it has means the world to me.”
