Brooklyn Beckham’s ex-girlfriend has revealed what Victoria Beckham was like when they dated.
The Beckham family feud has taken another dramatic turn as Brooklyn’s ex, Chloë Grace Moretz, has spoken out.
Brooklyn sent shockwaves through social media when he publicly accused his parents of controlling behavior and made damning allegations about his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz.
The explosive allegations
Brooklyn didn’t hold back in his January 19 Instagram statement, claiming his parents had spent his entire life controlling narratives and spreading lies to protect their public image.
Among his most serious accusations, he alleged that his mother, Victoria, ‘hijacked’ his first dance at his wedding, dancing ‘very inappropriately’ in front of 500 guests and leaving him feeling ‘uncomfortable’ and ‘humiliated.’
The statement also claimed that Victoria pulled out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress at the ‘eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.’
Brooklyn further alleged his parents had pressured him into signing away the rights to his name just weeks before the wedding.
“I grew up with overwhelming anxiety,” Brooklyn wrote. “For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.”
David’s Beckham’s response
Rather than directly addressing the specific allegations, David Beckham chose to speak more generally about his children during an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box.
His comments, however, were widely interpreted as a pointed response to Brooklyn’s claims.
“I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media… for the good and the bad,” David said. “What kids can access these days can be dangerous. But what I have found personally, especially with my kids, is that it can be used for the right reasons.”
In what many viewed as a subtle dig at his eldest son, David added: “I have tried to do the same with my children, to educate them. They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids. You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”
The wedding drama
While Brooklyn’s statement initially garnered sympathy from some quarters, eagle-eyed fans have now unearthed evidence that appears to contradict his version of events.
The discrepancies center primarily on the wedding day allegations that formed the heart of his accusations.
Regarding the wedding dress drama, a 2022 Vogue interview with Nicola’s stylist Leslie Fremar revealed that the Valentino gown was actually ‘a year in the making,’ involving multiple trips to the fashion house’s Rome headquarters and fittings in the United States.
This timeline directly contradicts Brooklyn’s claim of an ‘eleventh hour’ cancellation.
Additionally, Nicola herself explained in a 2022 Grazia interview that Victoria’s atelier couldn’t complete the dress in time, prompting her to work with Valentino instead, a far cry from the malicious last-minute withdrawal Brooklyn described.
The first dance controversy has also come under scrutiny.
Vogue’s official wedding coverage states the couple’s first dance was to Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love,’ with Brooklyn later inviting his mother onstage during Marc Anthony’s 11 p.m. performance, not Victoria ‘hijacking’ their romantic moment as claimed.
Adding another layer of complexity, wedding guest Stavros Agapiou, partner of British DJ Fat Tony, initially commented on Instagram supporting Brooklyn’s version of events: “I was there and she did, he’s telling the truth.”
However, the comment was later deleted and replaced with: “Good on him for finally speaking out!”
An insider suggested that wedding footage could provide the ‘ultimate proof’ of what transpired.
Due to strict recording rules requiring guests to surrender their phones upon arrival, only official footage exists.
The source explained: “You can completely understand why Brooklyn would never have wanted the footage made public. Until now, he has stayed silent, but he is finally speaking out about his experiences with his family.”
The family rift
The public statement came after Brooklyn reportedly blocked both parents and all siblings on Instagram and demanded that David and Victoria communicate with him only through legal representatives.
A cease-and-desist letter allegedly instructed the family not to tag him on social media.
Brooklyn concluded his statement by making clear he has no intention of reconciling: “My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy, and happiness for us and our future family.”
Neither David nor Victoria has issued an official statement directly addressing Brooklyn’s accusations, and the Beckham family remains silent on the matter.
And, now there’s been another layer added to the drama as Brooklyn’s ex’s comments about Victoria have resurfaced.
What Victoria Beckham was like
As the public feud between Brooklyn and his parents continues to dominate headlines, past comments from his ex-girlfriend Chloë Grace Moretz regarding Victoria have resurfaced, offering an interesting contrast to current tensions.
The actress, known for her roles in Kick–A** and Carrie, dated Brooklyn on and off between 2014 and 2018.
During their relationship, Moretz spoke publicly about her experiences with the Beckham family.
In a 2014 appearance on Andy Cohen’s show, Moretz praised the fashion designer without reservation.
She described Victoria as an amazing person whose work ethic she genuinely admired, and expressed appreciation for her fashion line. The actress emphasized that the Beckhams were awesome people as a family unit.
Chloë said: “She’s an amazing person. I really admire her work ethic and I love her line.
“I think that as a family, they’re awesome people. [The Beckhams] understand the travel, the s** scenes with random people, the crazy schedules.”
She went on to tell him in a later appearance that David was ‘a great dad, [Victoria’s] a great mother. They genuinely are very good parents. That’s what matters most.’
However, dating Brooklyn wasn’t without challenges.
In 2016, Moretz told British InStyle that the intense media attention created difficulties.
“It creates a mass frenzy and they follow you in separate cars so you can’t just run around and share little silly and cute moments,” she explained.
The relationship ended in 2018, which Moretz later described as marking a difficult year for her. She has since come out as a gay woman and married Kate Harrison in 2025.
