Courteney Cox Says Matthew Perry ‘Struggled’ With Pressure Of Friends
Courteney Cox has claimed that Matthew Perry ‘struggled’ with an immense amount of pressure during the filming of the hit comedy show, Friends.
The Scream actress referenced her former co-star and how he would ‘freak out’ if one of his lines fell flat in the sitcom during an interview with The Sunday Times.
Chatting to the publication, Cox said: “That was a lot of pressure he put on himself. That’s a lot to think how much he relied on that for his own self-worth.”

The 57-year-old added: “He’s just struggled for a while. I think he’s doing great now.”
Cox reunited with her former co-stars Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston for the one-off Friends special, ‘The One Where They Get Back Together’, in 2021.
Many fans who watched the HBO reunion show said that they were concerned for Perry.
The 52-year-old, who has battled with prescription drugs and alcohol, appeared to slur his speech at some points in the episode.

At the time, one fan tweeted: “Although I loved the reunion, it was difficult watching Matthew Perry like this. He was talking with a slurred speech.
“Sad to see our beloved Chandler like this.”
Another added: “He sounded very slurred and mumbled, as if he was wearing dentures that didn’t fit. Very sad to see.”
These concerns were addressed by a source of Perry’s, who explained that his voice sounded different because he’d had an emergency dentist appointment that very same day.
The insider reportedly told The Sun: “That was said to impact his well-being and also how he was feeling.
“He had been in pain from what we understand, which caused the slurred speech.”
They added: “Obviously no one wants to film after a procedure, but it happened.
“The feeling was one of huge sympathy for Matthew, especially in recent days given how people have reacted online.”

On November 1, Perry’s upcoming memoir is set to hit shelves and apparently, he’ll discuss ‘both good and bad’.
A source told Us Weekly: “He’ll delve into his addictions, of course, plus clear up rumours about his feelings for the Friends co-stars.
“It wasn’t always a bed of roses for Matthew on and off the Friends set. He’ll also discuss what it was like at the reunion, both good and bad.”
They added: “It’s not going to be salacious or mean, just totally honest. But given the nature of Matt’s life and his experiences, that guarantees this will be an incredibly juicy read!”
