Elliot Page claims he was groomed and s**ually abused by multiple people in Hollywood while still a minor.

Page, 36, is a renowned and versatile actor, celebrated for his exceptional performances in both film and television.

With notable roles in acclaimed works like Juno and The Umbrella Academy, Page has garnered widespread recognition for his talent and skill.

Beyond their artistic achievements, Page has also become an influential advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, utilising his platform to shed light on important social issues and promote inclusivity.

In 2020, he came out as transgender, which he discusses at length in his new memoir, ‘Pageboy’.

However, Page also writes about the alleged abuse he suffered at the hands of some of Hollywood’s stars while still a teenager.

Page recounts disturbing experiences involving an unnamed director and two members of the production team during the making of the film Hard Candy when he was just 16 years old.

The Inception star claims that the director – who feigned friendship – took him to dinner, stroked his thigh under the table, and pressured him to ‘make a move’.

He further claims that two members of the Hard Candy team s**ually abused him after gaining his trust.

One alleged incident involved a coworker forcing himself on Page after offering him a ride home, while the other allegedly occurred when a woman crew member took advantage of him during a house-hunting outing.

Page claims: “His voice sweet, his hands on my shoulders, he guided me to the bedroom. I went stiff. Unsure what to do as he stood tall and removed his glasses.

“He laid me down on the bed. Starting to remove my pants, he said, ‘I want to eat you out’. I froze.

“After it was over, he tried to stay in the bed with me. I had thawed marginally and told him he couldn’t, to get out.”

Discussing the incident with a female crew member, he goes on: “I was standing in the empty living room, in front of the couch, when I felt her grab me.

“She pressed her face into mine, some version of kissing. That freezing coming over me again.

“The next thing I knew I was on the rug, the floor firm on my back. I didn’t say no, I did not resist, I just stiffened.”

These traumatic encounters deeply affected Page, leading him to take on intense and traumatic roles.

This included playing Sylvia Likens in An American Crime, a film depicting the tragic true story of a young girl’s torture and death at the hands of her caretaker.

In an interview with The Guardian, Page explained that his personal experiences of alleged abuse as a teenager influenced his interest in tackling such challenging roles.

Page admitted that he initially did not discuss the alleged assaults with anyone, as he had been conditioned to believe that it was something to get over and move on from.

He claims: “I didn’t know how to talk to people about it. I thought you just get over it and move on.

“It took me a long time to be able to sit and fully talk about these experiences or acknowledge that they were traumatic and had a significant impact on me.”

Page believes that he may have downplayed the trauma as a self-defence mechanism – or due to the manipulative tactics of his alleged abusers, who made him feel like speaking up would be creating unnecessary trouble.

In addition to the revelations of abuse, Page’s memoir delves into other dark aspects of the Hollywood industry.

He alleges that ‘one of the most famous actors in the world’ threatened to engage in s**ual acts with him to prove that he was mistaken about his s**ual attraction to women.

Prior to publicly coming out as transgender, Page had privately confided in a male actor he was working with at the time about his s**ual orientation.

The actor responded with disturbing comments aimed at coercing Page into believing he was not gay.

While Page does not disclose the identity of the actor in the book, he emphasises the influence of power dynamics in such situations, noting that the individual remains one of the most renowned actors in the world.
