The Bourne Legacy star was run over by his own snow plow, which weighed over 14,000 lbs, at his home in Reno, Nevada.
The accident occurred after a snowstorm hit America and left up to three feet of snowfall on the ground.
In a press conference held by Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, it was reported that Renner was attempting to move a car that was being driven by his nephew when it got stuck in the snow near his house.
Renner’s injuries included eight ribs broken in 14 different places and his liver being pierced by his rib bone.

Following his recovery, Rudd appeared on The Jimmy Kimmel Show to discuss his accident and the support he received.
The Wind River actor reveals that Captain America himself Chris Evans checked in on him while he was in the hospital, along with Rudd.
Renner says the Clueless actor would make his day when he visited, as Rudd is the ‘funniest guy he knows’.
Renner then shares a video that the Friends star sent him.
It resembles a message from the Cameo app, which allows people to purchase and receive personalised video messages from celebrities.
Renner comments: “He made a fake one, like I paid him money for a Cameo.”
The clip begins to play and Rudd opens by saying: “Hey Jerry.”
He continues: “I hear you’re a little banged up. Got in a fight with a snowblower apparently?
“Anyway, I just wanted to send this video. It’s really from the heart and hope you’re feeling better.
“Sounds like you are – apparently you’re a pretty tough guy. Maybe I’ll get to meet you someday.
“Next time, maybe let the snow melt.
“Feel better Jerry.”

Renner has opened up about the accident on a few occasions.
In an interview with Diane Sawyer from ABC News he says that he has no regrets about what happened.
Renner explains: “I’d do it again, ‘cause [the snow plow] was going right at my nephew.”
He goes on to add: “I chose to survive. That’s not gonna kill me, no way.
“I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refuelled and refilled with love and titanium.”
