Freeman was set to fly over to the UK to promote his new series Special Ops: Lioness alongside co-stars Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana.

However, he has had to cancel the trip and stay in the US after coming down with a fever, with doctors believing he has caught a ‘contagious infection’, as per Daily Mail.

Freeman’s absence was notable at several press appearances for the Paramount+ thriller – which is set to drop on the streaming service on July 23.

He was meant to appear alongside his co-stars on the BBC programme The One Show while Kidman and Saldana have also attended a screening at the Tate Britain.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a representative for Freeman has said: “Morgan has a fever and his doctor felt he had a contagious infection, so he cancelled his trip. He is fine now.”

The spy thriller, which is created by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, is inspired by a real-life CIA program.

The show follows the life of Marine Joe (Saldana) as she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as she leads the CIA’s war on terror.

In Special Ops: Lioness, Morgan plays Edwin Mullins, the United States secretary of state.

The first two episodes of the series will be available on its launch date – with one episode due to be released each week until the finale on September 3.

Morgan has previously been candid about his battle with fibromyalgia – a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body, as per the NHS – which he developed after being involved in a car crash back in 2008.

His left hand was left paralysed and the Now You See Me star has since had to wear a compression glove on the hand in order to keep the blood flowing.

During an interview with Esquire in 2012, interviewer Tom Chiarella penned: “It hurts when he walks, when he sits still, when he rises from his couch, and when he missteps in a damp meadow.

“More than hurts. It seems a kind of agony, though he never mentions it. Despite surgery to repair nerve damage, he was stuck with a useless left hand.

“It is stiffly gripped by a compression glove most of the time to ensure that blood doesn’t pool there. It is a clamp, his pain, an icy shot up a relatively useless limb.”
