Cher has opened up about why she never wants to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

We all know Cher as one of the biggest pop icons of all time with hits like ‘Believe’, ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’, and ‘Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves’ under her belt.

In fact, she’s one of the world’s best-selling music artists, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide.

She’s also tried her hand at the world of acting, with roles in films like Mermaids, Moonstruck (for which she won an Oscar), Burlesque, and, of course, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.

But, in spite of all of her amazing awards and accolades, there’s one honour that’s eluded Cher over her incredible six-decade career.

She’s somehow never been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Well, this week, Cher has finally addressed that particular elephant in the room.

Actually, she’s thrown some serious shade at the entire Hall of Fame institution, in signature Cher style!

On October 23, Cher’s holiday single ‘DJ Play a Christmas Song’ entered the Billboard Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart at number three, and, over the next few weeks, it climbed up and took the coveted number one spot.

This means Cher has the incredible title of the only solo artist to have No.1 hits in seven decades.

The only other music act to achieve this feat is rock band The Rolling Stones!

With credentials like these, it seems absurd that Cher is not yet in the Hall of Fame – and it seems as though Kelly Clarkson agrees!

Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show last week, Clarkson addressed the snub with Cher herself.

However, Cher’s iconic, diva response has left the internet in awe…

“It took four of them to be one of me,” Cher joked, referring to ‎Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, Mick Jagger, and ‎Keith Richards.

She then reminded the audience: “And I’m not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

Clarkson (alongside the studio audience) was shocked by the omission, asking Cher: “Wait, are you serious?”

“I’m not kidding you,” Cher replied.

“I was about to say s*****ng you! You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars… I’m never going to change my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.”

People have been loving her savage response, with many calling out the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for ignoring Cher.

One wrote: “The Rock Hall of Fame should be ashamed of themselves. Cher, you inspired all of us unblonde, dark-eyed girls the entire time I grew up. You are a Rock Icon, and without the award, everyone knows it and the world loves you! God bless you Cher!”

Another added: “I love Cher because she doesn’t pull any BS. She tells it how it is and doesn’t give a CRAP what anyone else thinks. She knows her worth, and what she brings to the table and won’t settle for anything less than what she deserves. This is how a confident, secure woman conducts herself. No matter what she does for a living…”
