Heinz has finally revealed where you’re meant to store your ketchup.

The famous tomato ketchup debate has been circulating for many years now, breaking up relationships, rumbling households and even resulting in written letters of concern being sent to Heinz itself.

However, one final tweet has put the age-old row to rest…

At long last, households will no longer be broken up, as the dipping giant has finally spoken out and weighed in on the correct place to store your tomato sauce.

Heinz finally decided to take the debate to Twitter and give their customers the answer they’d so desperately wanted, but not before asking their followers to vote on whether it should be stored in the fridge or cupboard.

The processing company has shut down the argument on where the sauce needs to be stored.

Over 2,500 people have taken to the poll and voted – and many aren’t happy with the final answer.

Celebrities have also weighed in on the contentious issue.

Cardi B has tweeted her opinion that: “People who put their ketchup in the fridge are not to be trusted.”

“If you store your ketchup in the fridge, we’re not going to work out,” Jennifer Lopez has also said via the dating app Tinder’s YouTube channel.

According to Today, the company once described its ketchup product as ‘shelf-stable’ on its website in 2017.

However, that didn’t put an end to the debate, with the brand adding that ‘its stability after opening can be affected by storage conditions’.

So what does it all mean?

The debate has sparked fierce discussion online, with people feeling very strongly on either side.

One cupboard ketchup lover points out: “So why is it on the shelves in supermarkets and shops then?”

Another person agrees: “If it was meant to be in the fridge, they’d put it there at supermarkets.”

“Never, ever has it ever gone in my fridge, nor anybody else’s,” somebody else says.

However, others have taken to the comments and said they want their ketchup in the fridge!

“Can someone tell my boyfriend to do so, he keeps it on the countertop and it tastes disgusting,” writes one Twitter user.

Another adds: “Cupboard until it’s opened and as per instructions in the fridge. Anyone who keeps it in the cupboard after opening is weird.”

“Once it’s open it goes to the fridge,” comments a third.

Heinz may now have cleared up the rumours with an online poll.

However, it’s safe to say the news has sent shockwaves to its followers and many customers are demanding they reconsider the storing process.

As per Today, Heinz recommends that ‘this product, like any processed food, be refrigerated after opening,” adding, “Refrigeration will maintain the best product quality after opening’.

Currently, the website instructs users to store the item in the fridge ‘for best results’.

And it appears that after 13,000 votes, about 60% of poll participants agree with the condiment company and believe ketchup should be stored in the fridge.
