A ‘fake vaccine site’ has ‘injected thousands with saltwater ‘across 12 locations in Mumbai, India, according to reports.

CNN has claimed the doctors and medical officials were charging people to have early access to the jab and have managed to net around $28,000.

So far, 14 people have been arrested in connection with the scam and it’s believed that over 2,000 Indians have fallen victim to having the false vaccine.

The con was blown when people began getting suspicious over the validity of the jab certificates that were being handed out.

A senior official of the Mumbai Police Department commented: “They were using saline water and injecting it, every fake vaccination camp that they held, they were doing this.

“We have arrested doctors. They were using a hospital that was producing the fake certificates, vials, syringes.”

According to fellow senior police officer Dilip Sawant, one of the vaccination sites was set up by a local residents association. They allegedly were in contact with a ‘reputed hospital,’ but a middleman passed them onto the scammers instead.

People were paying $17 to be injected with the fake vaccine solution.

Since residents have heard that they’re victims of the scam, they’ve been left panicking about what’s been put in their bodies and if anything will happen to them.

“We really want to know what has been injected into our bodies,” one person told News18. “Six members in my family have taken a shot. What if something happens to all of us? Who is responsible?”

So far, no deaths have reported as a result of the saltwater solution. However, those involved have been charged with culpable homicide, alongside criminal conspiracy.
