Netflix’s highly-anticipated new thriller which has been compared to Fifty Shades of Grey has just dropped.

The streaming service is known for having a number of steamy content available in its catalogue.

Content such as 365 Days, S**/Life, Obsession and S** Education were all successes and massively discussed upon release.

Netflix has now dropped a new raunchy film that is set to rival Fifty Shades.

Fair Play stars Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton) and Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) as an engaged couple who both work at a finance firm – where they keep their relationship a secret from their employer.

However, their romance starts to suffer when one of them receives an unexpected promotion at work.

Fair Play is written and directed by Chloe Domont who is best known for directing episodes for TV series such as Ballers, Billions and Suitswhich has recently found a new wave of popularity on Netflix.

Since releasing on the streaming service, it has received an impressive 87 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

To put this in comparison, Fifty Shades Of Grey only has a 25 per cent score on the film aggregator site.

Esquire has gone one step further and said that Fair Play might be the start of the revival of the racy thriller – something that the Fifty Shades franchise failed to do.

Speaking to Netflix, Domont knew from the moment she met her lead actors that were ‘perfect’ for those characters.

“They’re incredibly strong versatile actors that can do anything. And also what excited me about it was that they had never done anything like this before. I love to cast against type,” she explained.

Addressing the plot, Domont said the story was ‘burning inside’ of her and it was a story she ‘could not tell’.

She added: “I wanted to reckon with some unresolved feelings I had in the past, specifically dating men who I felt were threatened by either my ambition or any little bits of accomplishments.”

Following its release, viewers have taken to social media to react to Fair Play.

One person writes: “The film Fair Play is so f***ing realistic. It depicts how ego-driven really men are – they can love you but the moment you’re above them, they won’t hesitate to invalidate, gaslight and sabotage you.”

A second pens: “My god… Fair Play doesn’t even feel like it’s a movie, it feels like I’m in somebody’s business. Some masterclass acting here.”

Another viewer shares: “Fair Play is an intense, wild and utterly captivating film filmed with jealousy, craziness and a true representation of gender dynamics in the workplace.
