Ryan Murphy’s latest show is currently top of the streaming service’s TV charts after knocking off the hugely popular series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
It follows married couple Dean (Bobby Cannavale) and Nora (Naomi Watts) who move into their dream home with their children.
However, they soon start receiving mysterious letters from ‘The Watcher’ a mysterious stalker who is obsessed with their house and begins to torment their lives.

Despite the show being a massive hit on Netflix, The Watcher is leaving fans terrified and unable to watch alone.
On Twitter, one viewer shared: “I told everyone to watch The Watcher but actually don’t watch it because I watched it on my own thinking I’d be totally fine.
“Now I’m home alone and think there’s someone in my loft.”
Another person said: “Watching The Watcher as if I’m not home alone most nights and already constantly feel like someone’s watching me.”

A third person said: “The Watcher got me scared as f*** in my own house right now and I’m alone.”
“Just watched The Watcher I am completely terrified of sleeping alone now,” wrote someone else.
A fifth viewer said: “Watching The Watcher when I live alone in a big house might not have been the best idea.”
The show is based on a true story, with some changes made to the names, ages, and events.
In real life, the family started renovation on the property before they actually moved in.
However, after receiving the letters they decided to rent out the property and then eventually sold it in 2019 for only $959,000 after paying almost $1.4 million for it initially in 2014.
Mia Farrow, who plays Pearl in The Watcher, has admitted that she hopes the real-life victims don’t watch the show.
Speaking to Radio Times, she said: “[It was] a very different experience for us because we were only the actors and Ryan had created very different details.
“That storyline covered the basic outline… but the details are Ryan Murphy.
“So, I don’t know who the family was. I don’t know if I ever knew. But I’m sorry for them and everything.
“Hopefully, they don’t see the series.”

She also shared her sympathy for the family who has been impacted by the letters.
Farrow explained: “I’m really sorry for that family because they were embracing the American Dream, presumably.
“In your own home, which is supposed to be the safest place; your hearth, your heart, your comfort, your children, all of those things were taken away in the scariest way and I’m really sorry for that.”
