Another potential viewer shared: “Can’t wait to watch this, looking forward to seeing this for a long time.”

“I’ll add it to my list right away, it looks like a very good quality thing,” a third commented.

Someone else shared: “This looks amazing!”

The Watcher is based on a true story about Derek and Maria Broaddus.

They purchased their dream home in New Jersey in 2014 and had renovation started on the property before they moved in.

The couple then received a letter addressed to ‘The New Owners’.

The sender was called ‘The Watcher’ and claimed to be the house’s watcher ahead of its ‘second coming’.

The first letter read: “657 Boulevard has been the subject of my family for decades now and as it approaches its 110th birthday, I have been put in charge of watching and waiting for its second coming.

“My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time. Do you know the history of the house? Do you know what lies within the walls of 657 Boulevard? Why are you here? I will find out.”

‘The Watcher’ also referred to the couple’s children, by writing: “You have children. I have seen them. So far I think there are three that I have counted.”

The letters were sent to the police and they advised the Broaddus’ not to share any of the details of the letters with their neighbours.

One person who lived near them, Michael Langford, was initially brought in as a suspect due to where his house was positioned and the vantage point he had into the family’s house.

However, he was cleared and the investigation carried on.

The Broaddus’ never ended up moving into the house and decided to rent it out, before selling the property in 2019 for much less than they bought it for.

The identity of ‘The Watcher’ also remained unsolved.

The Watcher will differ from the real-life story, including the surname of the family and the ages of their children.

The creepy trailer also hints that the family will come face to face with their stalker.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the limited series about the serial killer, has topped Netflix’s Top 10 since its release.

The show has received praise, especially for Evan Peters’ performance as Jeffrey Dahmer, with Vanity Fair describing him as ‘mesmerising.’

The Watcher is now available to stream on Netflix.
