Expert Issues Warning To Anyone Who Uses Air Fryers Over Ovens
An expert has issued a warning to anyone who uses air fryers over ovens for cooking food.
The kitchen appliance has become increasingly popular over the years and is found in many households.
Their convenience has made them particularly appealing to those with hectic schedules, limited cooking time, or large families.
However, frequent users may be unknowingly making a crucial mistake that could pose health risks.

Dr. Richard Anderson from High Speed Training emphasizes the importance of regular cleaning, particularly for those who use their air fryer as their primary cooking appliance.
While many air fryer components are not designed for dishwashers, proper cleaning remains essential.
Speaking with the Express, Dr. Anderson stated that air fryers should be cleaned thoroughly after each use.
“Even though some air fryers are labeled as dishwasher-safe, dishwashers can strip the non-stick coating on the air fryer components,” he explained.
To maintain optimal hygiene, Dr. Anderson recommends a light cleaning after every use and a deeper cleaning at least once a month.
If an air fryer is used to cook particularly greasy foods, a deep clean should be performed every couple of weeks.

For deep cleaning, all accessories must be removed and cleaned separately to eliminate grease, lingering odors, and burnt-on food.
Dr. Anderson suggests an effective method for tackling stubborn grease: “For stubborn, baked-on grease, try filling the tray or drawer with water, drop in a dishwasher tablet, and leave to soak overnight. Then, simply rinse clean the next day.”
One of the main reasons cleanliness is so vital is that mold can develop inside the appliance, particularly in the basket, if it is not thoroughly cleaned and dried after each use.
Louise Allen, co-founder of Fountain Filters, explains that food particles, combined with heat and moisture, create the perfect breeding ground for mold, which can go unnoticed.

As air fryers continually grow in popularity, experts warn that improper maintenance could lead to serious health concerns.
To keep an air fryer in the best possible condition, Dr. Anderson advises wiping down any grease from the heating element with a damp cloth or sponge and then rinsing it in warm, soapy water.
He also stresses the importance of ensuring the heating coil is completely dry before using the appliance again.
Air fryers equipped with built-in filters must also be cleaned regularly.
If unsure about proper maintenance, you should refer to the manufacturer’s instruction manual.
