iPhone users are complaining that the new Apple software update has badly affected their battery life.

Naturally, iPhone users everywhere are scrambling to check if they’ve got the latest version.

But before you hit that update button, here’s a heads-up.

Some users are flocking to social media to complain that their batteries have taken a hit after installing the iOS 16.5.1 (c) update. Sound familiar?

We all know that software updates are essential for our devices’ protection and performance, but boy, can they spark some serious fury when they mess with our precious battery life.

Just last week, the iOS 16.5.1 (a) update hit the scene, and before we could even wrap our heads around it, the iOS 16.5.1 (c) followed closely behind.

But what’s the deal with this rapid-fire release of updates, we hear you ask?

Well, Apple has an explanation for that.

The iOS 16.5.1 (c) is labelled a ‘Rapid Security Response’ iOS – a new type of software release for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

According to Apple, these releases bring crucial security improvements, especially for the Safari web browser, the WebKit framework stack, and other critical system libraries.

The quick release of the iOS 16.5.1 (c) was aimed at fixing a security bug that caused a ruckus for iPhone users trying to visit sites like Zoom or Facebook through the Safari browser.

This bug raised concerns about the safety of users’ phones, so the update was essential to patch things up.

While the update is genuinely critical for device safety, some users are taking to Twitter to vent their battery woes.

One user fumes: “Whatever secret sauce they put in that last iPhone update that is murdering my battery, can they just not?”

Another frustrated user adds: “Ever since the latest @Apple update my phone has become a pocket warmer and depletes my battery. Anyone else having this issue?”

Even the proud owners of the iPhone 13 Pro are feeling the heat: “My iPhone battery has never been so bad since this update, and I have an iPhone 13 Pro.

“It’s always been great up till now! Basically, the new iPhone will be out in September; let’s f*** up their software.”

However, tech experts at the business website ZDNet have offered us a glimmer of hope.

They say that experiencing a drop in battery life after installing an iOS update is quite normal.

Apparently, iPhones need to perform various background tasks after an update, consuming more battery power than usual.

But don’t worry, the battery life should return to normal once all these extra tasks are completed.

If your phone’s been feeling a bit sluggish post-update, ZDNet has some tricks up its sleeve.

They recommend trying a good old-fashioned reboot, updating your apps, or even checking if it’s time for a battery replacement.
