Human remains have been found in the search for a missing TV star.
British actor Julian Sands, 65, is best known for his villainous role as Vladimir Bierko in the series 24.
He also played Superman’s father Jor-El in the show Smallville and appeared in films such as A Room With a View and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
Sadly, Sands was reported missing in January 2023 while hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains – east of Los Angeles.
An update has now been provided by authorities.

According to The Guardian, hikers have discovered human remains in the area where Sands disappeared.
The body was discovered at about 10am on Saturday, June 24, in the wilderness near Mount Baldy in the San Gabriel mountains.
It was transported to the coroner’s office for identification – which will be confirmed next week, as stated in a statement by the San Bernardino county sheriff’s department.
Additional information about the discovery is yet to be confirmed.

The Boxing Helena star was known to be a keen hiker – with longtime friend John Malkovich claiming he ‘was always tramping off to Kilimanjaro, or Antarctica, or the Andes, or the Alps’.
Sands was reported missing on January 13 after climbing the peak that rises more than 10,000ft (3,000 metres).
The area was subject to harsh storms during winter that turned snow into ice.
It had been claimed that two other hikers fell and died of their injuries between Christmas and late January.
During the early searches, Sands’ car – which was covered in snow – was found near the area.
However, the search was called off in March due to the severe weather conditions.
On Friday, Sands’ family released their first statement since Sands’ disappearance.
It reads: “We continue to hold Julian in our hearts with bright memories of him as a wonderful father, husband, explorer, lover of the natural world and the arts, and as an original and collaborative performer.”
The Leaving Las Vegas actor is married to journalist Evgenia Citkowitz and has three adult children – one son with ex-wife Sarah Harvey and two daughters with Citkwowitz.

His brother, Nick Sands, has revealed that Mount Baldy was the Dexter actor’s favourite spot in LA.
Sadly, he admitted that he thinks his sibling may never be found.
Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus (via LBC), Nick says: “He has not yet been declared missing, presumed dead, but I know in my heart that he has gone.
“However, sibling rivalry being what it is, it would be just like him to walk out of there and prove me wrong.
“On Monday, he had planned to join his brothers for our Monday Club for a beer in Skipton; he will be missed, and I guess we will raise a glass to him.”
