Katy Perry has set the record straight after footage of her eye ‘glitching’ during a Las Vegas residency concert went viral this week.
In a TikTok video, the ‘California Gurls’ singer, 38, was seen attempting to open her right eye, which appeared to have involuntarily closed, leaving fans concerned and questioning what had happened.
However, the ‘Roar’ artist has now confirmed that the eye issue was nothing more than a stunt.

Perry took to Instagram and uploaded footage of her ‘glitching eye’ on Thursday.
The post was captioned: “Welcoming all my #flatearthers #spaceisfakers #birdsarentrealers #skyisntbluers to come see my broken doll eye party trick IRL in Vegas next year!”
She added: “Heck I pour beer out of my t**s (that’s a party trick too… I don’t actually lactate hops silly goose!).”
Before Perry spoke out about the eye ‘glitch’, fans had said they were concerned for her health, with one person writing: “Is she OK?”
Another added: “What’s actually going on here? Seriously…”
“She’s glitching,” commented someone else.
Another joked: “That baby doll you had as a kid with the eye that kept closing.”

Other fans had theories, with some suggesting that a problem with her makeup could have caused Perry’s eye issue.
One person suggested: “Katy has false lashes on in this.
“It’s likely there’s something in her eye, or bothering her eye, but she can’t rub them because it will ruin her makeup.
“Stage makeup is very heavy and will get everywhere when you touch it.
“She’s gently pulling her temple area to try and alleviate the itch or clear whatever is bothering her eye without doing damage.”
Perry also used the clip to announce that her Las Vegas residency has been extended with 14 more shows, telling fans that the setlist is ‘a fun rollercoaster through memory lane going all the way back to 2008’.
The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ artist penned: “This show is a nonstop party about finding unconditional love and strangely (for me) not political at all.”
She added: “Hope to sing along with you in 2023! And we’ll drink, this one’s on me, cause we’re all #chainedtothealgorithm #therealproblemlolhaha.”
Her now-seemingly-deliberate eye ‘glitch’ set the internet ablaze while she celebrated her 38th birthday with fiancé and Pirates of the Caribbean star, Orlando Bloom, 45, and their two-year-old daughter, Daisy.
