Lewis Capaldi has apologised to Lorraine Kelly on her self-titled show after suggestively offering her ‘seven inches’.

When promoting his new single, ‘Forget Me’, on the breakfast show, the singer offered the TV presenter a vinyl copy of the song.

When passing it over to Kelly, he remarked: “There you go, my seven-inch… record. Sorry.”

This left the host going red in the face, but she quickly replied: “I love vinyl.”

To make matters worse, Capaldi told Kelly that there was an error on his end and it wasn’t even a copy of his new song, but rather a Bastille track.

He added: “Yeah that’s actually a Bastille record that’s inside it so please don’t open it, that’s a mistake on our part.”

Capaldi’s appearance on Lorraine was met with a positive reaction from viewers on social media, who loved his innuendo joke.

One person on Twitter posted: “Lewis Capaldi just said to Lorraine ‘Here seven inches of me’ and handing her his new single on vinyl. Classic comedy right there.”

I only saw one problem with that interview, it wasn’t long enough. Lewis Capaldi is a national treasure,” commented a second user.

Another individual on social media added: “Just watched Lewis Capaldi on @reallorraine this guy can sing, but could also make it as a comedian. He’s hilarious! Good luck with the single.”

Someone else posted: “Love how Lewis Capaldi doesn’t take himself or life too seriously. He has a great sense of humour. His music is just a bonus!”

A fifth wrote:  “Wasn’t Lewis Capaldi exactly what we all needed this morning on Lorraine… A much-needed moment of normality and humour after a draining few days of emotion.”

After Capaldi appeared on her show, Kelly made it clear the musician’s joke didn’t bother her in the slightest, as she thanked him for making an appearance.

She penned: “Dearest @LewisCapaldi – thank you for being such a great guest today. You cheered us all up. I think you are a fabulous fella as well as being a brilliant singer-songwriter.”
