A medical student ‘cheated his final exam by surgically implanting a Bluetooth device into his own ear,’ a college official has claimed.

According to The Independent, Dr Sanjay Dixit, who is the medical college’s dean, said it was discovered after a ‘surprise check’ was carried out.

He told the publication: “He was taking the General Medicine exam on Monday with 13 others when a university squad of the Devi Ahilya Bai University came for a surprise check and they found one student with a mobile phone and another with some Bluetooth device.”

He added: “The devices have been confiscated and their answer sheets were seized. They were given new answer sheets.”

Dr Dixit went on to tell the outlet that the student purposely concealed these devices, as before entering the exam they’d been instructed to hand in all electronic devices to invigilators.

According to Hindustan Times, the student with the Bluetooth implant had made it so it was skin-coloured.

Reportedly, it was his final chance at passing the exam, after it’s believed he attended the college for 11 years.

Following the incident, an internal investigation has reportedly begun and the devices have been sent away for examination.

Apparently, mass cheating is not an uncommon event when it comes to exams in India. It’s due to the fact competition is extremely fierce and there’s a small number of vacancies for jobs after graduation.
