Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that his country has been ‘left to fight alone’ against Russia.
In a video address on February 25, the 44-year-old stated that ‘peaceful cities’ are being destroyed by Moscow’s military operation and more than 137 Ukrainians lost their lives on the first day of the attack.
He said: “They are killing people and turning peaceful cities into military targets. It’s foul and will never be forgiven.”

Zelensky went on to criticise western allies, adding: “Who is ready to fight alongside us? I don’t see anyone. Who is ready to give Ukraine a guarantee of Nato membership? Everyone is afraid.”
According to reports, the Ukrainian President has been identified as one of Russia’s top targets, yet he has reportedly said he will remain in the country, alongside his family.
“The fate of the country depends fully on our army, security forces, all of our defenders,” Zelensky said.
Earlier this week, the leader reportedly cut ties with Russia and called for martial law.

Addressing leaders around the world, he said: “If you don’t help us now, if you fail to offer a powerful assistance to Ukraine, tomorrow the war will knock on your door.”
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a chilling warning to the west in a TV broadcast.
In his speech, the 69-year-old stated that if anyone attempted to interfere with his plans for Ukraine, there would be ‘consequences’.
He said: “To anyone who would consider interfering from the outside – if you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history.”
