Millie Bobby Brown’s engagement post is being slammed online.

The Stranger Things actress, 19, has reportedly been in a relationship with Bon Jovi’s son, Jake Bongiovi, 20, since June 2021.

The couple seemingly announced their engagement on Instagram earlier this week and it’s raised a few eyebrows.

Many of Brown’s fans have taken to social media and said the apparent announcement has left them concerned.

Some of the Enola Holmes actress’ followers are saying that she is ‘too young’ to be getting engaged.

However, other fans are slamming Brown for an entirely different reason.

It all started when the Godzilla star took to social media platform on April 11 and uploaded a black-and-white shot of the pair that shows Brown sporting a ring.

She captioned the post: “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all,” alongside a white love heart emoji.

While many fans shared their congratulations for the young couple, others had an issue with Brown’s caption.

It borrows lines from Taylor Swift’s song ‘Lover’, which is apparently about her now ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.

The pair were together for six years and according to People magazine, they’ve recently split up.

Sources have reportedly said that the two decided to call it quits due to ‘differences in their personalities’, although it was amicable.

Due to the timing of the post and the use of the lyric, fans of the ‘Shake It Off’ singer have criticised Brown over her choice of words.

One person comments: “Not the ‘Lover’ lyric when Swifties are still grieving.”

Another adds: “Time and place Millie I beg you we’re in mourning.”

“Millie sweetie happy for you but this isn’t the best time,” says a third.

“Girl read the room,” states a fourth.

Someone else asks: “Is she trying shade Taylor cause?”

However, other people have defended Brown and said that people are reaching.

Defending the young actress, one follower writes: “Not people getting mad at this because of the lyrics.

“Maybe you lot need to go outside, touch some grass and see if it helps.”

Another adds: “Millie Bobby Brown quoting Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’ in her engagement announcement is everything!

“Congrats to the happy couple, wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness.”

A third explains: “Just because Taylor broke up doesn’t mean the meaning of the song changes, y’all need to chill.”

While Swift’s fans might be upset with the timing of the engagement, the pop star herself has liked Brown’s post – so she seems to have no issue with the caption.
