Where the Crawdads Sing, which is based on the 2018 book by Delia Owens, came out in July 2022 and has finally dropped on the streaming platform.

It stars Normal People’s Daisy Edgar-Jones and Taylor John Smith, who has appeared in films such as You Get Me and Shadow in the Cloud.

The film follows a young girl, named Kya Clark, who grows up isolated in the marshes of South Carolina.

Marriska Fernandes praised the film in her review, as she wrote: “Where the Crawdads Sing is a beautifully haunting story of one girl’s quiet resilience in a film that floats across multiple genres: thriller, romance and, ultimately, survival story.”

However, despite praising Edgar-Jones’ performance, critic Kavin Maher appeared unsure of the film, as he said in his review: “Even Edgar-Jones, at times firing on all cylinders as enfant Sauvage Kya Clark, can’t quite save this much-hyped adaptation from an overdose of syrup and some deeply dubious subtext.”
