New legislation has been filed that could remove Donald Trump as president.

This comes after many Americans are becoming increasingly concerned about his handling of the situation in Iran.

Democrats are now trying to push this bill through, which means they could remove him from power.

He has faced many controversies in his presidency, but this seems to be on another level.

Members of his own party are now even distancing themselves from the president.

Trump’s attacks on Iran

Many Democrats are becoming increasingly worried by Trump’s handling of the situation in Iran, and the ongoing conflict.

After he posted on social media that a “whole civilization will die tonight,” more people are questioning his ability to rule.

The Democrat who introduced the bill cited Trump’s “increasingly volatile, incoherent, and alarming public statements” as a key reason for the legislation.

Back in February, the US launched targeted strikes on Iran’s military and nuclear infrastructure, with the aim of resolving security concerns.

Iran responded through missile attacks and allied forces across the Middle East, raising fears of a broader regional war.

It resulted in chaos across the region as locals and tourists worried about their safety.

Disruption around the Strait of Hormuz sent shockwaves through global energy markets, highlighting how quickly conflict could affect the wider world.

At home, the escalation triggered concerns over the powers of the president and his willingness to enter in conflict.

After weeks of confrontation, a fragile ceasefire brought a pause, but not a resolution, to a conflict that left lasting uncertainty.

Now Democrats are hoping to introduce new legislation to ensure peace in the future.

He is losing support from his party

It isn’t just Democrats who are concerned about this recent conflict.

Members of Trump’s own party are becoming increasingly worried about his ability to handle his role as president.

Former ally Marjorie Taylor Greene is one of the Republicans now opposing what Trump is doing.

She wrote on a X post: “I know all of you and him, and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit. I’m not defending Iran, but let’s be honest about all of this.”

She went on: “The Strait is closed because the US and Israel started the unprovoked war against Iran based on the same nuclear lies they’ve been telling for decades, that any moment Iran would develop a nuclear weapon.

“You know who has nuclear weapons? Israel. They are more than capable of defending themselves without the US having to fight their wars, kill innocent people and children, and pay for it.

“Trump threatening to bomb power plants and bridges hurts the Iranian people, the very people Trump claimed he was freeing.”

Similarly, he recently received a lot of backlash from his Christian supporters over the AI-generated picture of himself depicted as a Jesus-like figure that he posted to his Truth Social platform.

Many of his long-time supporters described the move as ‘disgusting and unacceptable.’

Now, this new bill is looking at ways to remove him from his position.

New bill that could remove Trump from office

The new legislation was introduced by House Democrats on Tuesday, but it will require Congress to confirm it.

It would allow politicians to investigate the president’s fitness for office and move to remove him using the 25th Amendment.

The legislation would create a bipartisan committee to decide whether or not to invoke the emergency amendment to remove Trump.

They would need to decide if Trump was “mentally or physically unable to discharge the powers and duties of the office”.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Jamie Raskin.

Rep Raskin said: “Public trust in Donald Trump’s ability to meet the duties of his office has dropped to unprecedented lows as he threatens to destroy entire civilizations, unleashes chaos in the Middle East while violating Congressional war powers, aggressively insults the Pope of the Catholic Church, and sends out artistic renderings online likening himself to Jesus Christ.

“We are at a dangerous precipice, and it is now a matter of national security for Congress to fulfill its responsibilities under the 25th Amendment to protect the American people from an increasingly volatile and unstable situation.”

That said, the bill will have little impact on Trump’s administration as the committee would need the vice president’s approval.

JD Vance seems strongly behind his president, so a break from loyalty would be unlikely at this stage.

Also, Congress remains in the control of Republicans, so it is unlikely that this bill will ever even be passed.

This did not stop Trump from responding to the bill, with a White House spokesperson telling The Independent that Rep. Raskin was “a stupid person’s idea of a smart person.”

Whether or not the bill passes, we will have to wait and see if the president can keep the support he has left.
