Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old MAGA activist who was fatally shot in Utah last week, will be honored today (September 21) in a public funeral service – here’s everything we know.
Kirk, a close ally of President Trump, was shot dead while hosting an event at a university campus in Utah last Wednesday (September 10).
Footage of the brutal attack has circulated on X, formerly Twitter, depicting the moment a loud bang was heard.
The dad-of-two was violently struck in the neck before collapsing in his chair, where blood was seen pouring from the wound.
After a 33-hour manhunt, the FBI revealed the identity of the alleged assassin on Friday (September 12) as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.
The suspect is a Utah resident who was aware that the right-wing activist was coming to his state long before the shooting unfolded.
Robinson appeared for the first time in Utah County Court on September 16, via video link from his prison cell.
The alleged murderer faces seven charges, including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, two counts of obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering, and committing a violent crime when children are present.
Erika Kirk, 36, has spoken out for the first time following her husband’s death, alongside a series of pictures of her led beside his open casket.
During her statement, she said: “You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife; the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.
“Rest in the arms of our Lord, baby, as he blankets you with the words I know your heart always strived to hear – ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.'”
U.S. officials report that over 100,000 people are expected to visit State Farm Stadium, Arizona, in a bid to attend the MAGA activist’s funeral later today.
The stadium has a capacity of 60,000, but people are expected to gather around the venue to pay their respects, as funeral-goers are being let in on a first-come, first-served basis.

Arizona has been chosen given that Kirk lived there with his wife, Erika, and two young children, before his death.

President Trump told reporters he planned to attend the service in the Grand Canyon State.
“Whenever it is, I’ll be going,” he formerly said.
Trump added: “They’ve asked me to go and I think I have an obligation to do it.”
He noted that he had a long talk with Kirk’s wife, who was ‘absolutely devastated.’
Vice President JD Vance, who was a close friend of Kirk’s, is also expected to attend.

The memorial will be livestreamed via Kirk’s Rumble account, and the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. ET.
