Peter Kay fans have ended up crashing his website after the comedian announced his first stand-up tour in 12 years. 

The Car Share star’s last tour, The Tour That Doesn’t Tour Tour…Now On Tour, was a resounding success and even made it in the Guinness World Record for the biggest-selling run of all time – playing to a total of 1.2 million people.

Kay made headlines in 2017 when he was set to tour, as he cancelled due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’. This led to speculation surrounding his health. 

The Bolton funnyman has largely kept himself out of the public eye during this time, with only a few sporadic appearances at charity events.

However, during the first episode of the latest series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Kay revealed that he will be going on tour, which the show being titled Better Late Than Never.

On Twitter, his account posted: “Peter Kay announces his first new live stand-up tour in 12 years! Tickets go on sale 10am Saturday 12th November at http://peterkay.co.uk

The post was also accompanied by a video of him holding a rug while answering questions from someone sitting in a car recording him.

Many fans have taken to the comments and said they’re over the moon Kay is back.

“Geddin! Brilliant to have him back,” one user tweeted.

Another added: “The best news!”

While a third wrote: “This is AMAZING news… So happy.”

When are Peter Kay’s stand-up tour dates?

Peter Kay’s tour will start on December 2 at the AO Arena in Manchester and will travel around the UK and Ireland until August 2023.

Cities Kay will be performing include Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, Belfast, Glasgow, and Cardiff.

The comedian also revealed on Zoe Ball’s breakfast show on BBC Radio 2 that he will be doing a monthly residency at the O2 Arena in London.

The exact dates of his show were also revealed, which will include December 16, January 21, February 18, March 22 and April 22 – all the way through until November 18.

Kay will be making history as the first artist ever to have a monthly residency at the O2 Arena.

When will Peter Kay stand-up tickets go on sale?

As announced on Kay’s social media post, tickets will go on sale at 10am on November 12.

The tickets will be available through Ticketmaster.

However, O2 customers can sign up for its Priority service and can secure their tickets for Kay’s comeback tour early from 10am on November 10.

How much will Peter Kay stand-up tour tickets cost?

With the current cost-of-living crisis, fans were worried that the prices of Kay’s show would be extortionate.

However, much to their delight, the 49-year-old has revealed that his tour prices will only be £35, the same price as his tickets for his last tour.

Kay said, via Sky News: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.

“And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35 – the same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.”
