Sandra Bullock’s partner Bryan Randall has tragically died.

Bullock, 59, is an American actress who has starred in hit films such as The Blind Side, Miss Congeniality and Bird Box.

The Proposal star met model-turned-photographer Randall in 2015, as he snapped her son Louis’ birthday party.

Bullock and Randall went public with their relationship in the following year.

Sadly, it has been revealed that the actress’ partner has passed away aged 57 after suffering a rare neurological disease that he kept private.

Randall was diagnosed with the fatal condition amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, three years ago.

It affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement, such as walking, talking and chewing.

The cause of ALS is currently unknown but researchers are focusing on several possible theories.

In a statement to People magazine, Randall’s family said: “It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS.

“Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honour his request.”

It continued: “We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.”

The statement, which was signed by Randall’s ‘loving family’, added: “At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.”

Heartbreakingly, Bullock – who is mum to 13-year-old Louis and 10-year-old daughter Laila – had described Randall as the ‘love of her life’.

In an appearance on Red Table Talk, the Ocean’s 8 star had previously said that she and Randall loved their blended family, which included his own child.

She said at the time: “I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children – three children, [Randall’s] older daughter. It’s the best thing ever.

“I don’t wanna say do it like I do it, but I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother.”

Bullock added: “I don’t need to be told to be ever present in the hardest of times. I don’t need to be told to weather a storm with a good man.”

Earlier on in the episode, the actress said that Randall was a great ‘example’ to her two children.

“He’s the example that I would want my children to have,” the Gravity star said.

“I have a partner who’s very Christian and there are two different ways of looking at things. I don’t always agree with him, and he doesn’t always agree with me. But he is an example even when I don’t agree with him.”
