Shane Warne made a heartbreaking final tweet just hours before his death on March 4. 

The Australian cricket legend took to Twitter at 1:53am and expressed his sadness at the passing of fellow cricket star, Rob Marsh.

The 52-year-old wrote: “Sad to hear the news that Rod Marsh has passed. He was a legend of our great game and an inspiration to so many young boys and girls.

“Rod cared deeply about cricket and gave so much – especially to Australia and England players. Sending lots and lots of love to Ros and the family. RIP mate.”

Warne’s passing was confirmed by his management team, who announced in a statement that he suffered a ‘suspected heart attack’ while in Ko Samui, Thailand.

It read: ‘It is with great sadness we advise that Shane Keith Warne passed away of a suspected heart attack in Ko Samui, Thailand today.

“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived.

“The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”

Many were left devastated by the news of Warne’s death, and took to Twitter to share tributes.

One fan penned: “So shocked at the sad passing of Shane Warne. A true great of the game. And brilliant punditry. Seemed a genuinely decent man. Will be sorely missed.”

Another added: “As a cricket fan during childhood I’d always try to replicate the Shane Warne spin bowling action and fail miserably most of the attempts. RIP Legend.”
