Simon Cowell appears to be turning his back on fame after difficulties with his health.

Cowell, 63, was once the UK’s Mr Saturday Night, practically living in the spotlight during X Factor’s golden era, where he captivated over 14 million regular viewers.

Red carpets, A-list dinners in Mayfair’s poshest spots and paparazzi flashes were just a typical day for the record executive.

He was all about life in the spotlight. But now things have taken a surprising turn.

Cowell recently bid farewell to his jaw-dropping £45 million Holland Park home and swapped it for a life in the tranquil Oxfordshire countryside.

And his fiancée, Lauren Silverman, is now the boss of his once super-successful entertainment company, Syco.

Cowell’s inner circle has also reportedly shrunk. Apart from Amanda Holden, he hardly hangs out with his other famous friends.

However, he is still the head judge on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, sharing the stage with Holden.

But Cowell is no longer tied up with any other TV commitments.

Instead, he’s set on spending quality time with his nine-year-old son, Eric, who he adores.

Some of his ‘stepping back’ could be down to the life-changing moment he had a nasty accident on his e-bike.

Lucky to survive, Cowell had to go through a gruelling six-hour surgery to fix his back.

One source told the Daily Mail: “It’s like Simon has totally changed his direction of travel.

“He was once so keen to be in the papers that he could barely go for a walk without it being on the front of the tabloids.”

They went on to tell the outlet that Cowell isn’t interested in the limelight and just wants to focus on his son, while Silverman runs what remains of his business.

“Nobody can work out what has happened here – he went from being so in need of fame to hating it,” the source added.

Cowell’s new show Walk The Line was axed after just one season, and things are reportedly a bit rocky between him and ITV, the network that hosted his hit shows.

It appears as though ITV wants to go the ‘kinder’ route with reality shows like The Masked Singer, shifting away from Cowell’s style.

Plus, there’s been some drama surrounding his shows, with controversies popping up left and right.

Cowell’s former BGT co-star David Walliams got caught in a not-so-flattering moment, and some X Factor stars have made serious allegations about their experiences on the programme.

Most recently, the record executive has kept himself busy with an advertising deal for a mobile puzzle game called Royal Match.

He’s filmed an ad for it which will hit screens this autumn.
