Authorities initially spent years looking for Clinkscales and searched lakes to try and find his body and his car – but he was never found, which left experts confused.
His mum once described the moment that she found out he went missing ‘was like the earth opened up… and he vanished’.
His parents, John and Louise, had previously revealed how they once received a call from someone who told them that their son was killed and his body had been dumped.

However, a passerby spotted a white Ford Pinto in a creek in Cusseta, Alabama, and immediately got in touch with the authorities.
When the police arrived at the scene, they discovered human bones, a wallet, ID and credit cards in the car.
The remains were taken and after DNA analysis, it confirmed that they found the body of Clinkscales.
A Facebook post by Troup County Sheriff’s Office reads: “On February 19, 2023, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Troup County Coroner’s Office that those remains were positively identified as that of Kyle Clinkscales.”
The statement reads: “The Coroner’s Office received this information from the GBI at which time they released it.
“Upon further discussion with the GBI, this analysis was completed by an FBI lab at the request of the GBI.
“At this time an official report has not been completed or released by the GBI as it relates to a manner of death. We certainly appreciate the work of the FBI and the continued work of the GBI in this case.”
His cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed.

The findings of his death will certainly give closure to those close to him.
Lauren Griffen, who was a friend of Clinkscales, says (via Yahoo News): “Everybody was always wondering if he was going to show up somewhere.
“His personality was just charming. He was a sweet guy. Most of the time he was very quiet. But he was very kind to everyone.”
Unfortunately, both of his parents died in 2009 and never got the closure of knowing about their son’s whereabouts.
