Bruce Willis’ family have provided a heartbreaking update on his condition.

The legendary actor, 67, is best known for his roles in films such as Die Hard and Pulp Fiction.

Last year, Willis shocked fans by announcing his retirement from acting.

This is due to The Sixth Sense star being diagnosed with aphasia, which is a condition that impacts the part of the brain that is responsible for understanding and producing language.

His family has largely kept his condition under wraps, only sporadically sharing images and news.

However, they have now shared another update on Willis’ health.

Find out more about Bruce Willis’ condition below…

In a statement shared by his current wife, Emma, 44, his ex-wife Demi Moore, 60, and Willis’ children Rumer, 34, Scout, 31, Tallulah, 29, Mabel, 10, and Evelyn, 8, it’s confirmed that Willis has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

Frontotemporal dementia is an uncommon type of dementia that can cause problems with behaviour and language, states the NHS website.

In the family’s statement, they share their ‘deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love’ from fans.

They add: “Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead.”

The statement has been shared on the website of The Association of Frontotemporal Dementia (AFTD), which is a nonprofit organisation that provides support and education for anyone who is affected by FTD – directly or indirectly.

Many people have taken to the comments and shared their support for Bruce and his family.

One fan says: “Bruce is an absolute legend! Praying for him and his family!”

Prior to this statement, a source told RadarOnline that Willis’ family are ‘praying for a holiday miracle’ over the Christmas period.

While Willis’ daughter, Rumer, has confirmed that she’s expecting her first child with boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas.

A source close to the family has told RadarOnline that this news has given Willis a ‘new will to live’.

“He’s determined to stay coherent and lucid for as long as possible so his grandchild can have some happy memories of a grandfather who was present and active in his or her life,” an anonymous insider tells the outlet.
